The new guidelines will hit offending lawmakers with a $500 fine on the first offense and $2,500 on the second, to be deducted from the lawmakers' pay, according to a senior Democratic aide.

The rules will be adopted Tuesday evening as part of the rule governing a Democratic proposal designed to at removing President Trump by way of the 25th Amendment.

I agree with her but I am not sure if anyone can lower the pay of any Congress Critter. I think its in the constittution..

The person's gross pay is NOT "lowered", it's just that there would be "deductions" from their gross pay just as there are deductions for income tax and other statutory levies.

Unless there is specific legislative provision otherwise, the pay for a Senator or Representative is as liable for attachment as is the pay of the Senator's or Representative's secretary.

This is what is known as "equality under the law" - possibly you have heard of it.

Because the easiest thing to criticize about a competent woman in public life is their appearance (nobody really cares what a competent man looks like) and the easiest thing to criticize about an incompetent person is their lack of competence (nobody really cares what an incompetent person looks like).

That means that (other than in the "World of Fashion") when you see someone criticizing the appearance of a woman in public life, that is a good clue to the fact that the woman is actually competent AND that the person doing the criticizing knows it (but won't admit it because that would be a blow to their own self-assessed competence).
