Democrats Suggest Postal Board May Have Broken Rules To Hire Louis DeJoy : NPR

"According to individuals familiar with the process, Mr. Louis DeJoy was never recommended by this firm but was rather introduced by you to the selection committee," the letter reads. "It would have been irregular for a member of the USPS Board of Governors, such as yourself, to recommend Mr. DeJoy without the consultation, research, or support of the contracted hiring firm Russell Reynolds Associates."

...

"The appointment of Mr. Louis DeJoy as Postmaster General was highly irregular and we are concerned that his candidacy may have been influenced by political motivations," Krishnamoorthi said in a statement. "We need to get to the bottom of why Mr. DeJoy was considered, given that he apparently was not one of the candidates recommended by the firm contracted to make such recommendations, and did not undergo a background check."

"It's clear that Louis DeJoy isn't qualified to be the Postmaster General," said Porter. "He's one of the few in history, if not the only in history, who didn't come up through the Postal Service. So I want to know why he was chosen for this role, and if this was a political decision, rather than a policy one."

Not only that, but DeJoy's wife has been nominated to be ambassador to Canada. It seems like DeJoy didn't come up through the nominal means of appointing a new Postmaster General, nor did he come through the Postal Service where the Postmaster General is usually taken from. It makes sense, to me, that the Postmaster General would rise through the actual Post Office to take the reigns since they'd need to know a thing or two about the Postal Service before taking the top job.

He bought those spots. It's the "swamp's" way, particularly with this horrid excuse of a POTUS.

PolitiFact | Ad Watch: Is the postmaster general a Republican donor with investments in USPS competitors?

I really would like to see a breakdown of just how many Trump appointees - whether or not still serving, whether or not they ultimately did serve at all - were Trump donors specifically or GOP donors more generally, as compared to past administrations.

We already know his is the most criminal administration ever, after the most criminal campaign ever, but it'd be nice to know just how swampy his sewage is.

"It's clear that Louis DeJoy isn't qualified to be the Postmaster General," said Porter.

That would explain the USPS's sudden inability to deliver the mail after more than two centuries of doing it very well.

Sondland ring any bells?

Drain the swamp? Nope... Only hire the best? Nope...

Just more lies and cons by the conman and criminal in the White House...

But as long as he keeps throwing red-meat to his deplorables his lies and cons won't matter to his cult.

If Trump did in fact violate the corrupt bureaucratic norms that govern the appointment of federal officials, good for him.

Trump’s sabotage of the USPS caused 6,800 chicks to be delivered dead to farmers in Maine. This has NEVER happy before. Hundreds more were delivered dead to NH.

Of all of trump’s scandals and ****ups, this one with the USPS is actually affecting his rural and farm voters. Oh wait, so did the epically stupid tariffs.

Well if Trump did violate "corrupt bureaucratic norms" to make an even more corrupt political appointment of a major campaign donor in order to negatively impact the capabilities of the USPS to handle mail-in ballots during a global pandemic, then I think we should all care.
