Watching them deliberate and wring their hands about impeachment sickens me. They're motivated by fear. It's reeks of weakness. Republicans did not hesitate to impeach Clinton for lying about sex. They did not hesitate to drag Hillary Clinton through the mud and probe her emails over an alleged lie about Benghazi. Trump has told a mountain of lies and has clearly offered witnesses pardons and instructed other witnesses to lie.

Watching Trump refuse to comply with any requests as Dems look helpless is comical.
 

Even taking your position at face value, more and more Democrats, like Elizabeth Warren, are calling for impeachment hearings now.

If you want to talk about weak, look at the Republicans who are refusing to defend our laws against the corrupt assaults by trump.
 

They should have done it right after the Mueller report drop. By waiting it makes it seem like they're not sure that Trump did anything worth impeaching.

The Republicans only gained by investigating Bill Clinton. G.W. Bush beat Gore. Gore distanced himself from Clinton because of the whole scandal. And the Hillary investigation certainly hurt Hillary.

At the end of the day being impeached is a stain on Trump's record. It hurts him with ordinary people who don't follow the details. It also forces people to learn the details about why he's being impeached. That's the big win of impeachment, everyone in the country will know why. They'll know about his lies and obvious attempts to silence witnesses.

Yeah...I find this Dem in-fighting to be comical, too.

But talk about impeachment...the latest is that meeting the House Dems had this morning. The result? No mention from Nancy about impeachment...which means she won. No impeachment. But she gave a little, too. Now the talking point is "cover up".

You're right, but the problem is, his supporters do not care that he breaks laws, they do not care that he silences witnesses. He told them to their face he could murder someone and not lose any supporters, and then they elected him.

That dishonest stunt where Barr took the steam out of the Mueller report by lying about what it said for a month sadly worked, just like Lindsey Graham's tantrum after Christine Ford's testimony sadly worked to get Republicans to shamelessly ignore what she said and confirm the liar. I think this is why Democrats are trying to use Mueller testifying hoping it's sort of a re-do to get a national reaction.

I understand what you're saying, but I also know that impeachment is fruitless at this point, mostly because the GOP controls the Senate, but also because they have no time to do it, and they need hard evidence, which they don't have enough of - yet.

I want them to investigate him thoroughly, and expose every ugly wart he has. His base won't ever turn against him (that's verboten in the cult), but the Independents will see what a piece of **** he is, and will vote against him in 2020.

The Dems hold all the cards here. Better for them not to give Trump and the idiots who carry his water something else to complain about, like impeachment. Let him fester. Let him continue to **** up. Then let's get him out of there, and hopefully the idiots in DC who have stuck their noses up his fat ass, like Graham and McConnell and a few others.
 

Republicans paid a price for impeaching Bill Clinton. Smart democrats don't want to make the same mistake, knowing full well that the Senate will not convict, not to mention that, if successful, Pence would become president who is further right than Trump and would probably do better in the 2020 election than Trump. It plays right into Trump's hands, just what he wants. This is a case of be careful what you wish for. Many on the left are letting their TDS effect their judgment. Hillary did lie about Benghazi but that wasn't a crime because she didn't lie under oath. But, she did lie about it. And, we did need an investigation on Benghazi to find out what happened.
 

What is happening is House Democrats are abusing their power by defining partisan witch hunt investigations as "oversight".

Benghazi deserved investigation, but that investigation went on until she wasn't a threat to Republicans politically. If she had won, they'd still be investigating it.
 
It is quite pathetic. The idea wouldn't be to go in expecting to actually convince the GOP to remove him from office. It would be to make a record more digestible to lazy ignorant Americans, who hardly bother to read a book for pleasure let alone read a 448 page report. No, their dumb asses would prefer to drool at a TV. Well, guess what: hearings produce clips perfect for TV. And the point would be to further make a record of each GOPer's vote and/or stated reason for so voting, and go into 2020 armed with that.

They seem to think that instead they should only focus on 2020. Why don't they see heading into 2020 after making a big deal out of the investigations then doing nothing when the report shows a pile of obstruction and attempted obstruction as a glaring weakness?

Funny, I remember when the guy who wiped clean Hillary's server was subpoenaed by Congress and failed to show up, even though he was a private citizen without the prerogatives of the executive branch. The Democrats said nothing. They, in fact, were happy.

The Republicans impeaching Bill Clinton are the ones who paid the price for the impeachment. The Mueller report found no evidence that Trump or his campaign conspired with the Russians to influence the election. That's why it makes it seem like Democrats are not sure that Trump did anything worth impeaching, because they're not sure he did. As far as the Bush/Gore election goes, don't you remember, Gore won the popular vote? The Benghazi investigation didn't really hurt Hillary other than the fact that it led to the email investigation, which obviously did hurt Hillary.

It is rather comical that after the two year Mueller investigation and 35 million dollars, Democrats believe that Mueller was too incompetent to get around the Trump "cover-up".
 

The only people likely to be positively affected by an impeachment charade are those already well ingrained with Trump hate. The more likely outcome is to make Trump a more sympathetic figure as the Dems fail to accept the Mueller report findings and go to turning over rocks in desperation. Impeachment will help Trump.
 

Trump hasn't broken any laws. That's why the left continues investigations, until they find that Trump did break some laws. If they already had evidence they wouldn't need more investigations.

"Crossfire hurricane" was one HUGE political cover up based on years of Obama administrators Spying on political opponents.. maybe?

The investigation went on because she failed to comply with relevant docs, then her private email server for State Dept business was discovered. It's all on HRC.
 

I'm an independent and all I see is the rabid left so obsessed with being anti-Trump they will stop at nothing to get him. And, you're right. There isn't any evidence against Trump for anything. That's why Democrats are wanting to continue investigating. Surely Trump must have fixed a parking ticket somewhere in the past.

Exactly. Both parties have now reached the point where they use nonstop partisan investigations as a political tool to take down the other side. Democrats are showing they are not going to be out done.
