Democratic officials 'plotted to expose Bernie Sanders' as an atheist

I don't recall his atheism coming up (as it surely would've if he'd made it to the general), so apparently this "plot" never actually came to fruition.

Yes, admittedly he joined to get free media exposure, while failing to fulfill his obligation to fundraise for the party (indeed, he called fundraising for downticket races "money laundering"), slamming the party every chance he had, and using the DNC's servers to steal proprietary information from the Clinton campaign.

I for one am shocked--shocked!---to learn that behind the scenes, DNC staffers were saying mean things about him to each other in their emails.

So you mean the Party should only be open to those of special pedigree, and not be open to all comers who present themselves to the party's base for judgement? So it's Union Seniority rules then, instead of "democratic" rules?

Democratic Party, thy name is oxymoronic.

I didn't say he shouldn't have been allowed to run. I said he was allowed to run. An arrangement that was undoubtedly more beneficial to him than to the party, since he used the platform it gave him to **** on the party and its frontrunner. So I find the sense that somehow he's owed something more puzzling.

He's owed impartial treatment by DNC officials - and yet it's turning out that these bums just give a false appearance of impartiality while they actually prepare to carry out a coronation of their favorite.

At least with the Republican convention, you could see how hard-fought everything was. Nobody got a cakewalk, and Trump is having to battle it out every step of the way. And in Trump's case, he's the outsider, not the favored pick of the Party establishment.

A class action suite brought by the Bernie supporters could lock up hundreds of millions of dollars that POUH needs to attack Trump. $1,000,000.00 for every person that voted for Bernie in the primary would be a good start to satisfy us Bernie supporters.

Anyone that voted in an open primary of as a den can claim they voted for Bernie.. With the morality and the love of lying in the liberal horde that will be twice as many votes as Bernie got with their hands out.

Someone is apparently taking contact information for it.

I wish we had a megathread I could post all the emails.
Some are really bad.

So I wonder if those outraged at thyis are going to mention this email:

Yup, they was told not to go after Sanders. Oh, the horror.

It takes a while to get through it all.
Of course it's not just that part either.

It's the alleged collusion with media outlets, the alleged DNC and WaPo unlisted fundraiser, people are really pissed about the memo on Hispanics, stuff like that.

I didnt, because he's a Jew.

Really? And which synagogue does he attend? Bernie Sanders said he is not religious. I'm more likely to accept that comment from a man who doesn't attend a church, or synagogue, than I am to accept the professions of faith from Sen. Clinton and Mr. Trump who also don't attend a church.

"Jew", is his ethnicity, not his religion.

Bernard Sanders was born on September 8, 1941, in Brooklyn, one of New York City's five boroughs.[6][7][8][9] His father, Elias Sanders, was born on September 14, 1904 in Słopnice, Poland (then, until 1918, in the Austro-Hungarian province of Galicia),[10][11] to a Jewish family; in 1921 he immigrated to the United States at the age of 17. His mother, Dorothy Sanders (née Glassberg), was born in New York City on October 2, 1912,[14][15] to Jewish immigrant parents from Poland and Russia. Many of Elias's relatives who remained in Poland were killed in the Holocaust.

You didn't know Sanders is a Jew and that the DNC is anti-Semitic? It looks like the DNC has its own, "Southern Strategy". They wanted to convince southerner to vote for Clinton because Sanders is a Jew.

Not really his party. He made it a point to not be a democrat, right up until he wanted something from them. "I think I will run for president, but independents don't do well, so I will call myself a democrat!"

ANd discussing what you might want to do is not "damning". Actions matter, venting in emails, not so much.

It's not nice to blame the victim.

You state Hillary the front runner, so who ever is highest in the first poll should be anointed the winner and everyone else is to drop out. And you call that a fair election. It's public knowledge that Sanders was not treated fairly by the DNC far from it. I would suggest that if your Hillary got the treatment that Sanders received you would crying wolf.

I've known the socialists are anti-semitic since I learned that the sainted FDR did not allow refugees fleeing Hitler to have refuge in the U.S. But, the discussion is about religion. Atheist versus the faithful. The socialists were going to brand Sanders as a atheist.

I find it ironic that Sen. Clinton would attack Sanders on religion or Mr. Trump would preach to anyone about ethics.

As a side note, 'Jew' / 'Jewish' is the ethnic group. 'Judaism' is the associated religion. One can be ethnically Jewish and self identify as such, but not practice Judaism ala Einstein. I don't know if Bernie is also in this category or not.

Well on Heavy, there's an article talking about a class action lawsuit against the DNC for this.

But besides all that, the rest of the leaks show that the DNC rigged the primary process for Hillary.

There is no reason not to support your candidate with all legal methods. Was there illegality concerned?

Them showing favoritism, including sabotaging Bernie's campaign is in violation of their own internal rules.
With that being true, it could be argued that it was fraud.

Imagine donating to Bernie, when the weight of the party was supporting his inner party rival in the primary.
Would you of done so if you knew that?

I don't know the exact formulation of the rules nor how they were broken. Do you have the links available, by any chance?

It's one of their by laws.
I saw it waaaay earlier, before I went to bed.
I'll have to look it up, but it's alleged that they paid people to push against Bernie supporters.

Are you suggesting then that Hillary doesn't need the support and votes from Bernie's supporters? You won't bitch and whine if Hillary doesn't have enough support to beat Trump?

I don't doubt that either Mr. Trump or Sen. Clinton will win the election but I'm hoping neither gets more than 40% of the vote. When you consider the dead will be voting as a bloc for Sen. Clinton as will foreign nationals, convicted felons, and those imaginary people in the cities that make it possible for Sen. Clinton to get significantly more votes than there are registered voters I think Sen. Clinton still has a shot. But, if neither get an absolute majority and have to take office with a low plurality, the anger of the American voters will be clear.

My bumper sticker will say, "Which crook are you voting for?"

Yep RIGGED... and now we see how trump may be the next teddy roosevelt because of so many similaries.. both saw how the process was totally RIGGED... Trump caught the big rigging with a loophole where the rich can stop the will of the people

and cruz's insane greed dove in with buying off delegates with his big oil money and that woke up the voters suddenly and then trump soared and cruz dropped like a rock

trump will soar just like teddy roosevelt both rich from manhatten .. the same current rich from both parties trying to stop him

I think it's time we had an atheist in the WH, whether Bernie is an atheist or not.
