Sooner or later if this continues, there will be violence. And sooner or later, ICE is going to get hurt pretty bad. They'd lose. At that point, martial law would be declared, and the full military would crush the opposition. Then martial law would not be rescinded.
You're not necessarily wrong but we cannot CANNOT get into a cycle of "don't do X, or it'll make Trump super mad". IT's clear as day what he's planning. Resistance is important NOW. And it that means brinksmanship? So be it. The argument that Trump wants to impose martial law and is looking for an excuse means there is literally nothing you can do that won't trigger it, so subservience does nothing for anyone.... not expecting this to end well.
You are literally asking for State Governors to call up "militias" to face off against the National Guard (assisted by various States supporting Trump with their own resources.) That would actually empower Trump to use the umpteenth Emergency Order.
They are all armed, it is begging for someone to blink, and that will end poorly.
The other option is to lay down to a tyrannical CentGov.... not expecting this to end well.

Funny how those 2nd Amendment folks will sit this one out because they LOVE how the CentGov is punishing people in their own states that THEY also hate. All those 2nd Amendment gun nuts who have prepared decades for this moment are finally going to come out of the woodwork with their arsenals and take on the tyrannical central government ….
…. any day now ….
I'd bet that my argument is correct.Sooner or later if this continues, there will be violence. And sooner or later, ICE is going to get hurt pretty bad.
That Trump wants to use fed troops against Americans?I'd bet that I'm right on this point.

That may be borderline false dilemma. Do nothing, or send someone else to literally fight the National Guard.
If Trump mobilizes the military against the country, sending them into cities, using them to manipulate the upcoming elections, should they not be fought?
Note, I am no Trump supporter nor defending any of his actions.
Are we sure that is the intention? I get that the political optics of this has made it about defense from a "tyrannical" Trump but is voter intimidation by the presence of National Guard troops what you are suggesting?
The active duty armed force that is now the all professional AVF remains its historically antifascist and anti-dictator self, if that's what your post that's all over the place might be trying to contradict. The active duty force is anti Trump as is more than half the of the 50 states National Guard members. They'd lose. At that point, martial law would be declared, and the full military would crush the opposition. Then martial law would not be rescinded.

Doing less is what has brought us to this point. Where fascism is here. That may be borderline false dilemma. Do nothing, or send someone else to literally fight the National Guard.

The problem is Trump and the GOP *want this*. So any.,..attempts or whatever you want to call it to de-escalate also will look like subservience. We want these troops gone from our cities. Trump and maga want them to stay. At some point, we have to flush out what is the reality of our lives under the child rapist and if we are about to experience a second civil war.I could not care any less about making Trump mad, I am concerned about his temper tantrum and the suggestion of the OP putting two groups of people on a collision course. IMHO, the suggestion being made in the thread is a suggestion that someone at some point is killed in an exchange between two other groups no where near the gun shot.
That was a play on "War is young men dying and old men talking," but it was immediately what came to mind and in this context our own people going up against our own people.
I'm old enough to remember in 2015 maga and centrists making fun of stuff like "You think Trump is gonna end roe?" or "You think Trump is gonna try to stage an insurrection?" or "You think Trump is going to put literal troops in blue cities? LOL"Doing less is what has brought us to this point. Where fascism is here.
