Gov. Brown pledges to go ahead with the highest tax hike on businesses in Oregon history. Under the new code businesses will be taxed according to gross receipts instead of profit. The first high tax payments are scheduled to be made by April 30 whether the business is still working employees or not.

Democrats may think they care about the health risks of all Americans but they demonstrate they could not care less about American businesses, poor workers, good tax and fiscal policies and the US economy.

Incorrect.

The way I understand this, the tax is based on top line sales revenue and has nothing to do with profit. In the industry I am in, sales are down 80%. My location is still open but we are operating with a skeleton crew and we are losing money. We will continue to lose money until volume picks up.

This new tax is pouring salt in the wounds. Not only do you lose money, you have to pay taxes on that lost money so you lose EVEN MORE money.

You can understand why state leaders feel they must impose huge tax increases on workers and businesses, given the size of their state's growing debt. State governments are in serious financial trouble. They cannot pay all their current bills and the growing number of retiree benefits is making matters much worse as time goes on. Something has to give. Let's hope overburdening businesses with high taxes will not force a slowdown of business activity, making matters even worse than they already are.

They are strangling their golden goose in a failing effort to get it to lay more golden eggs with which to fund their well-endowed government workers and their retirement pensions.

The left doesn't even realize it but the ultimate outcome of their policies is to drive all small businesses out of business until only the Walmarts, Amazons, and McDonalds are the only ones left standing and then they hope to regulate them until their hearts are content. Screw everyone else.
 

Unemployment compensation for simply being unemployed is a more cost effective tax on business. They can always raise their prevailing market based wage if they don't want to have to pay for so many on unemployment. It is a market based metric under our form of Capitalism. There is no unemployment only under payment.

Republicans would put a meter on air, if they could get away with it. And since you are indulging in hyperbole, i'll give you a republican fact:

Tesla, the famous inventor, discovered a way to deliver electricity to homes wirelessly, but because J P Morgan, who gave Tesla seed money for the project, when he realized that wireless transfer would prevent metering electricity, he bailed. Since JP Morgan backed William McKinley in 1896, there is no doubt he was a conservative republican.

But for a ****ing superrich republican, citizens today might have been freed from being enslaved by energy companies.
 

Their goal is a command economy. They want to insure equal outcomes for all (well, for all that they approve of. They prefer no outcome for those they don't approve of). If we go to a command economy they can "fix" the inequalities that Capitalism creates. Utility companies would only be allowed to charge specific rates. Food providers would only be allowed to sell at specific prices. Home builders would only be able to charge rates that the needy in their communities could afford. It would be perfect. No CEOs with excessive salaries, no financial advisers getting special benefits from selling certain products. No homelessness. No hunger. No disease. Everyone would be educated. Everyone would be appreciated by their neighbors. Crime will be non-existent because there will be no need to commit crimes. Absolute perfection!
 

Out of curiosity, using the Tesla model, who would create the energy that is being transferred free to the people? Government, right?
 

Yet this same governor is giving one hundred million dollars to illegal aliens. Those who are in business are the higher earners because they work many more hours than normal people. Before this mess,more people were moving out of California than in. This will drive even more away.

It's because some businesses have high revenue that doesn't mean high profits. A business could garner a million in revenue and after rent, salaries and COGS he may only make $50,000. for which he pays $5,000.00 just in extra taxes. This is actually quite common for small businesses.


Oregon really sucks anyway.They are way far left. I don't know what anyone lives there.

this is 100% correct. they would force you to buy carbon taxes to offset your breathing.

this is on gross receipts. that is a huge tax burden.
most taxes are based on aig.

yes this is a huge deal for a small business owners.
here i thought leftist cared for small businesses and working people?

this .57% tax is regardless if you made profit.
all you have to do is make 1m in gross receipts.

He already knows what they are and in Seattle they are double what they were a few years ago.
This is just an added burden on top of that.

as another person said they might have revenue of 1m but after payroll, and other overhead etc they might only make
50k then they will have 5k in taxes to pay.
 

And republicans every day show us americans that they care way more about the economy than they do us. Good tax? What's that, no tax?
