Delta Turns Flight Around After Multiple Passengers Refuse to Wear Masks

Details are emerging over why a Delta Air Lines flight to Atlanta was turned around and returned to Detroit on Thursday, and once again face masks are the issue. According to reports, two passengers refused to wear face masks during the flight – a mandate for virtually every airline – and the plane returned to Detroit Metro Airport in suburban Romulus. A Delta spokesperson told the MLive.com media outlet that the flight was delayed because the passengers “were non-compliant with crew instructions.” The flight did take off again and land in Atlanta after being delayed by the return to Detroit.

Good. The selfish self-centered assholes can walk to wherever they have to go.

We need to start fining the militant maskless one to two hundred bucks a pop.

And three days in the county jail.

Modern Conservatism has turned selfishness, ignorance and self importance into badges of honour for millions and now everyone else has to deal with it at the one time it really should be shelved.

TSA Officers Uncover Assault Rifle Hidden in Suitcase

TSA Officers Uncover Assault Rifle Hidden in Suitcase | TravelPulse
TSA officers seized an assault rifle along with a high-powered magazine and an arsenal of ammunition that was hidden inside of a woman's checked luggage at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday.

According to a news release published by the agency on Tuesday, the illegal items were "artfully concealed behind the lining of a suitcase" before being discovered during routine baggage screening at Terminal C.

Officers alerted Port Authority Police, who tracked down and arrested the female passenger and her travel companion as they approached their departure gate.

"Our TSA officers are very skilled at detecting firearms and other prohibited items," said Tom Carter, TSA’s Federal Security Director for New Jersey, in a statement. "In this case, they detected an assault rifle, which is illegal in New Jersey; a high-capacity magazine, which is also illegal in New Jersey; four boxes of hollow-point bullets, again, illegal in New Jersey; three magazines, one of which was fully loaded; and two additional boxes of rifle ammunition."

People should learn they do not have a Constitutional right to tell others how to run their businesses and if they are going to willingly participate in the business exchange they have to play by the business owners rules.

That would be an extreme solution, but I don't oppose it outright.

There's actually 10 times more people affected than reported by testing. If 60,000 a day are reported to be infected, that means that 600,000 people are actually infected and if those 600,000 are infectious for 10 days that means that 3 to 6 million people are walking around possibly infecting others in this country. That's an epidemic out of control. If people are contributing to the spread, they should be locked up after the first $100 fine.

Libromath at its dumbest.

If the passengers were just being pricks and not wearing masks the flight never should of taken off. Of the passengers had a medical condition preventing them from wearing a mask then Delta was in the wrong IMO.

Hmmmmmmmm, I have to wonder how long other passengers were possibly exposed to the virus due to this compared to how long other passengers would have possibly been exposed if the flight had just gone ahead as scheduled.

At what point does endangering health and breaking rules become efficient?

you all keep saying stuff like this

lock up for what law?

fine for what law?

when they go in front of the judge, what exactly is the charge?

there is NO STATE OR FEDERAL statute on the books

during the 1918-9 epidemic each major city had to pass its own city ordinances...with local laws

and they had major problems getting people to FOLLOW those laws back then....

back before the age of the internet, back before the age of social media, and instantaneous worldwide communication

wanting something to happen, and being able to get it to happen are two different things

Breaking rules is one thing but my question implied that healthwise, people may have been safer by just continuing the flight instead of going through the trouble of returning and probably having to wait at the gate for authorities. And, if everyone just stayed inside the plane and then eventually continued on a second time, they were definitely exposed more than if they had never turned back in the first place. Are you worried about health or breaking the rules? Weren't the other passengers wearing THEIR masks? I actually read the other day that even though airplane air is constantly recirculated, it is actually filtered quite well.

If it's treated as a fait accompli then that'll just encourage other idiots to refuse to wear masks.

I wonder how many of the non mask wearers have an issue with restaurants "no shirt, no shoes, no service" policy? Do they complain that they have to put on the safety belt and the seat in its upright position? As long as the airlines make it clear that passengers are required to wear a mask then the consumer can decide if they want to fly or not.

Maybe the airlines should try billing the non compliant passengers with the cost of the flight having to turn around. Some people are just plain stupid.

There's a simple solution other than some convoluted equation to figure out potential exposures. Follow the rules, wear a mask. Smart people don't even have to wait to be told.

Libromath at its dumbest.

Hardly. Those are the figures calculated by esteemed scientist Dr. William Haseltine. He is known for his groundbreaking work on HIV/AIDS and the human genome. Haseltine was a professor at Harvard Medical School where he founded two research departments on cancer and HIV/AIDS. Haseltine is a founder of several biotechnology companies including Cambridge Biosciences, The Virus Research Institute, ProScript, LeukoSite, Dendreon, Diversa, X-VAX, and Demetrix. He was a founder chairman and CEO of Human Genome Sciences, a company that pioneered the application of genomics to drug discovery.

Dr. Haseltine has also written several opinion pieces for Fox News. He's hardly a 'libromathematician'.

Which had no possibility of happening if the leftist media hadn't made an issue of it. Nobody would have known. As usual, the leftist media would rather put people's health and lives at risk in order to further their leftist agenda.

Now you are spinning. Ultimately, Delta may have had a bigger risk of the virus by returning rather than just getting the flight over with. Detroit to Atlanta is a fairly quick trip. Do masks work or not? If they do then the other passengers were protected by their own masks.

I'm spinning while you use words like "may have"? lol

'Fairly quick' is a two hour flight not counting the time on the plane before and after the flight.

Follow the rules, wear a mask, and we can avoid the convoluted equations of 'potential' exposure vs. 'actual' exposure.

Delta turned a two hour flight into a four hour flight, endangering the lives of it's passengers double than if they had just had a two hour flight. Anyone who doesn't want to catch the virus should wear a mask.
