To Navy Pride and others, who told me I was full of crap last year, when I made the following statement:

Stick a fork in Hot Tub Tom. He is toast

-------- Welcome to yet another one of my gloating "I told you so" moments.

Delay has withdrawn from the race. His political career is now finished, as I predicted last year.

The GOP is going to support a write-in candidate to run against Nick Lampson. This district will go to the Democrats for the next 2 years, but the GOP should get it back the following election.

And about Delay himself? After all the chest thumping about coming back to Texas and winning the race, he cuts and runs, and goes whimpering into the night. Makes you wonder about how strong his own beliefs are, or whether he was really sincere when he told people he could win his upcoming criminal trial.

Article is here.

DeLay maintains that when he resigned from the House this June that he became a resident of Virginia to establish his new business.

"This decision was and is irrevocable, which I made clear from Day One," he said. "My action was taken in accordance with Texas law, federal precedent and common sense. I felt it was my duty to allow Texas Republicans to choose a new candidate for the Fall Election Ballot."

Was it just talk then, when he said he would run? I'm more curious about what he has in mind in VA. My guess is that there is more money in lobbying than in pest control.

Wasnt talk when he said he would run. He won the Texas Primary, before deciding he did not live in Texas any more, which is why the court decided that he could not be replaced on the ballot.

As for his pest control business, Delay had to settle out of court after being sued by his partner, who he had defrauded.

Just you wait...the punch drunk GOPers in this community will cut and run from this news faster than fast....the spin should be posted here any time now...you know...how classy an act it was, how he was railroaded by a Democratic prosecutor, how he blah blah blah, blah..

Ah yes, 'The Bugman' sticks it to the voters of TX-22 one last time. Getting all the campaign finance money he could. Since he isn't running anymore, under the law, he can use those funds for his legal defense. Nice guy. But fear not my conservative friends, I hear that Sugarland's fine upstanding mayor, David Wallace, has declared himself as the write in candidate. Cut from the same cloth, so as to not miss a beat.
