An outgoing Republican lawmaker on Sunday blamed former Sen. John McCain for the GOP's loss of the House majority in last week's elections, writing in The Wall Street Journal that it was McCain's decisive vote against legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare that led to a wave of Democratic midterm victories.

Jason Lewis, a Minnesota congressman who was unseated last Tuesday by Democrat Angie Craig, claimed in his op-ed that McCain’s thumbs-down vote against a so-called skinny repeal of the Affordable Care Act “prompted a ‘green wave’ of liberal special-interest money” that he said allowed Democrats to hammer Republicans on the issue of pre-existing conditions.

Talk about a sore loser. This guy seems to be hallucinating to come up with crap like this lame excuse.

Party of personal responsibility in action.

The few sore loser Republicans such as John McCain did more damage to the Republican party politically than Democrats did.

A real class act. It couldn't be that people are upset with Trump and his handling of America. Nope, blame a dead war hero. That's the GOP way. You know, if George Washington hadn't cut down the ****ing cherry tree and angered all the environmentalists, the GOP would have retained the House.

The last 4 new threads all have been started by you. You do not participate in this forum's threads, you just troll this forum.

NOW you pretend you are a fan of John McCain.

Shall we run through the whole set:
Barack Obama did it
Micehelle Obama did it
Hilary Clinton did it
Bill Clinton did it
John McCain did it
ISIS did it
Immigrants did it
The entire city of Chicago did it
The Minnesota Twins did it
Farrakan did it

Face it GOP...the voters did it with a big assist from Donald. Get used to it.

McCain was cancer assassinated by the Kremlin.

This was the number one issue with most voters. As much as I think immigration is a bigger issue, Lewis is probably right about this. Republicans were voted in to deal with healthcare, and they didn't do much.

You mean the voters that we've been importing over the past decades?

I think the problem with that healthcare bill wasn't that McCain voted no, but that it was a crap bill. The CBO score is what killed the GOP. If McCain had voted thumbs down on something that would have objectively improved the system, blame him, but I don't know how anyone can argue what the GOP puked up was a good effort.

Do you realize how little a problem immigration is to the country as a whole? We have much larger problems and providing health care to our citizens is one of them. This election should have pointed that out to the GOP and Trump. When Trump came into office he promised to end the ACA and replace it with something better and cheaper, he and the GOP did not so so. Instead they went out to the states to try and end the ACA and especially the mandate and pre-existing conditions through the courts since they failed in congress. The failure of the GOP to see what was right in front of them until too late cost them the House. Only GOPers still think that immigration and the caravan are that important.

That's a nice talking point, but it's utterly unsubstantiated and is totally contrary to what voters think. Immigration is among the top 3 issues to all voters and the top issue for Republicans.

GOPers tend to vote for Republicans. The Republicans kind of are beholden to their voters, as they should be.

"We spent 8 years putzing around and not coming up with a decent alternative to Obamcare, but it's McCain's fault I lost my seat."

The guy should write a book and go on an excuse tour the way Hillary did to spread lies about why he lost,

And he is a typical Trump Republican, a liar through and through..Republicans have been doing everything they can to do away with pre-existing conditions, but this lying SoB denies that and then has the balls to blame McCain? The House bill allowed Insurance companies to charge people with pre-existing cons. any amount of money, $10,000's if they wanted to.. Yeah, some protection... Yep, typical Republican.

Lewis wrote in his op-ed that the failed Senate vote allowed Democrats to campaign against Republicans with the claim that the GOP wanted to remove protections for those with pre-existing conditions, a keystone of many Democratic campaigns leading up to the midterms.

The freshman congressman argued that the House bill would have “[alleviated] the pre-existing condition problem,” rather than getting rid of the protections altogether as he accused Democrats of falsely claiming. PolitFact has rated claims that the House bill wouldn’t eliminate protections for pre-existing conditions as “mostly false.”

Gosh, if only everyone were as ivory white as you....

Oh contraire friend. The gloves have been off for at least the last year, mainly because people like you and me have simply said "cut the crap, we know what you mean to say...just come out and say it". Notice the graph presented regardless of whether it is accurate or not highlights "people of color". Does not even make mention of Immigrants though it is easy enough to flip it around and recognize that most of the uproar about Immigrants is about Immigrants that are people of color. Of course the obvious conclusion one can draw is that it is about race. It always has been about race.

What is this graph? is it claiming that only 55.5% of the country will be white in 12 years? When was it made 1960 because its already wrong . . . .
not to mention who cares LOL

Pretty sure it was the part where Republicans went after pre-existing conditions that was their problem, not the part where McCain saved them from succeeding.

That graph explains why Trump ran a campaign based on fear, hate, and racism:

Trump’s Midterm Closing Argument: Pure Racial Fear

He wanted to energize the base, and apparently he believes they're cowardly racists.

Research Finds That Racism, Sexism, and Status Fears Drove Trump Voters

I wonder if his strategy team read the research? Probably eh.
