He was a FOURTH generation cattle rancher who is now a vegan. I sent his book to a friend of mine up in Washington who going to have a colon re-section. After he read the book, he stopped eating meat completely and has not been back since. At the beginning of the book, Howard says, "We have something in common with the cows we eat. They're meat eaters too!" Apparently, we feed cows to cows. That's part of the reason the British started getting the mad cow disease.

I just think it was interesting that a guy that comes from a heritage of cattle ranching, is now a stout vegan. Unreal.

That law suit with Oprah was a result of him coming out and talking about the bad effects of flesh food.

Which is one of the many reasons I am a vegan. Are you a convert?

And ps. now that we are no longer allowed to feed cows to cows, we feed the leftover parts to chickens. Wings anyone?

I'm a diet *****. Veganism is pretty extreme, albeit necessary for long term survival. I don't know what I would do without Tommy Burgers!

Tommy's is a burger stand up on Beverly and Rampart in downtown Los Angeles where you can find at 2:00AM in the morning a homeless guy standing in line right behind a guy in a tuxedo waiting for a burger from a structure that is smaller than a jail cell.
