The Taliban have launched a major attack on a construction company building a road from Lashkar Gah to Sangin in southern Afghanistan, according to reports.

As many as 30 people were killed during the day-long attack in Helmand province on Thursday, officials say.

The exact number and identity of casualties is not yet clear.

But bodies have begun arriving at a hospital in the provincial capital of Lashkar Gar, the officials said.

Sure there not terrorists. You know who you are.

A big part of the Taliban strategy is to deny coalition forces attack and resupply routes. We see this strategy with the innumerable roadside IEDs and the concerted attacks on road construction. The Taliban also attack coalition fuel tanker caravans which have to make an arduous and dangerous journey from Pakistan to US bases in Afghanistan. Since the Taliban primarily move by foot and donkey, they seek to deny coalition forces anything beyond this primitive mode of travel.
