Deadliest Bomb in Iraq Is Made by Iran, U.S. Says - New York Times

The most lethal weapon directed against American troops in Iraq is an explosive-packed cylinder that United States intelligence asserts is being supplied by Iran.
The assertion of an Iranian role in supplying the device to Shiite militias reflects broad agreement among American intelligence agencies, although officials acknowledge that the picture is not entirely complete.
In interviews, civilian and military officials from a broad range of government agencies provided specific details to support what until now has been a more generally worded claim, in a new National Intelligence Estimate, that Iran is providing “lethal support” to Shiite militants in Iraq.
The focus of American concern is known as an “explosively formed penetrator,” a particularly deadly type of roadside bomb being used by Shiite groups in attacks on American troops in Iraq. Attacks using the device have doubled in the past year, and have prompted increasing concern among military officers. In the last three months of 2006, attacks using the weapons accounted for a significant portion of Americans killed and wounded in Iraq, though less than a quarter of the total, military officials say.
seems Iran is actually supporting chaos in Iraq, not surprising to me
but it seems some want to bury their head in the sand

And what do you propose? Go to war with Iran too? Seriously what is it YOU would do in this situation about Iran?

Shame the US politicians didn't do some homework before they decided to bumble into Iraq. If they'd done so they'd have realised the catastrophic inter ethnic conflict they'd unleash by toppling Saddam.

Only if you believe the same govt that has been wrong about so many other claims about ME countries.

No credibility to me.

No s.h.i.t it's not complete! Nothing is with Bush 43.

Don't ever compare the schrub to JFK, here's the difference
in their intel and what they use to make their decisions...

unlike the sheep of this country, I have an entrepreneurial job that is so much more than 9-5 m-f.
fortunately that means yesterday I got to play golf with a past client and than take her to a restaurant on the Gulf of Mexico to watch the sunset as we had dinner and caught up with each other
as a result, I am working today
I will be working tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day
I post when I can, and read more than i post, because while i may have some time waiting for clients to browse response, i do not have hours to research and compose long winded responses like some on this board

want to keep this thread on track, atleast for the first page
so maybe you could start another thread about the misinformation in the ME
everything of late has solely been about WMDs in Iraq

Bush said it best: "Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again—"

you are not goiong to like this but....

whatever it takes for global stability and national security
I would rather be wrong doing something about the worlds ills
than be wrong by doing NOTHING

You're right, I'm not going to like it. You want a 3 front war now? We haven't got Iraq and Afghanistan under control and you want a third war?

Please tell me how we would accomplish something like this when we don't even have Afghanistan or Iraq under control yet?

how many fronts were there in the Revolutionary War?
WW I?
WW II?
etc...

some of us have more faith in our military, i guess

Those conflicts had widespread support in this country, yet conscription still had to be employed. So, at the least there will need to be a draft, but with the lack of support the current war in Iraq receives who is going to support that?

If you think the wars we have now can be fought like WWI and WW2, I suggest you look at how the military is built now.

Can we decimate an enemy? Yes, we can. Can we help that country recover from that? I don't know anymore after Iraq and Afghanistan with the troubles we're having.

So if you just want to bomb a country and leave it (Which would just create more terrorists in the long run), then sure we can bomb them. But we do not have the means to topple Iran's government and then help their people recover from that IMO right now with Iraq and Afghanistan in the shape they are now.

We're already at war with them or didn't you read the article?

Then answer my very simple question, what would you do? Send troops to topple the government of Iran? I hear a lot of complaining but no real solutions.

God made golf so white guys could dress like pimps.

I won't comment on the rest because I'm a little jealous.

Oh crap.Where are the Dems. that want to rant and rant about how Iran isnt involved with the war at all, and we're just making up more excuses. They were on here about a week ago....o well...

No ground troops, I would send massive airstrikes to take out their nuclear facilities and bomb the sh!t of their governmental facilities as well in an attempt to take out the clerics and Ahmadinejad then if they retaliate I would use MOAB on Tehran if they still didn't surrender I would turn their country into glass with a fullscale nuclear strike.

And you would completely destroy the infrastructure of Iran, turning the entire population into supporters of those that would want to destroy America creating even more terrorists. Good plan.

And as for nuking the entire country, I am sure you know about fallout and how the surrounding countries, including Iraq, would be affected by that and would not give approval for something like that. Are you WANTING to start a World War against the U.S.?

What population? Full scale nuclear strike, there would be no population left.

A) Tactical nuclear weapons would minimize fallout.

B) A world war? lmfao who would that be coming to Iran's aid? The French? Don't make me laugh.

It is insulting to anyone with any knowledge of history to compare any of those wars to nightmare that Bush has and is creating.

Those were just wars and we were defending ourselves. This sequence is a series of wars started by Bush and if he's not stopped he very well might throws the world into WWIII and this time the USA will be the bad guys something I cannot live with.

So you're simply accepting the daily propaganda that the Bush War Machine is obviously spewing out just like they did before the Iraq? This is the exact same crap that was not true before and we're living it again now.

What creditability does Bush and the intelligence community have right now? Do you seriously believe that we can invade another country, this one with 73 million people and win? Do you?

What needs to be done is exactly what was not done pre-Iraq. We need to hold summit meetings throughout the Middle East and especially with Iran so that we can reach some sort of agreement, just like we did with the Soviets. We need to co-exist even if we disagree, not start another damn war that will bush us closer to annihilation.

I don't care if this gets me some points but your post is one sick, revolting and totally fuc%ed up thing to write. I never liked your way of thinking but this time you've totally crossed the line and have entered into the world of the insane.

You disgust me and I hate you for writing such utter crap.

Funny you don't seem to get so upset when Ahmadinejad threatens to wipe other countries off the map. Hate to break it to you but we're already at war with Iran and they fired the first shot, I'm so sick of this kindler gentler warfare bullshit, it only leads to a longer more protracted war so why not end it quickly by using the full force of our military capabilities? Do you honestly doubt for a second that the Iranians would hesitate for a second to do the same to us if they could? After all their national slogan is "death to America," so fuc/k them "death to Iran."
