Daughter of Pro-Trump Evangelical Pastor Calls Out Father for Calling Dems Evil: 'That's Me'

I'd say many of us have at least one friend whose parents were so radically religious that their kid went the opposite direction.

Or are gay.

Nah. At current, Trump is the major shaper of the Republican Party. Prior to that, it was Reagan.

Although I have to say

That I appreciate your insistence on only seeing things through a tribal lens, and helping to demonstrate my point.

Nah. LBJ was, and remained, a bastard.

:) And @Cardinal thought it was Rush Limbaugh &co who were entirely to blame for their belief that you look down on and dislike them.

Maybe next you should do the classic "It's okay because whites are going to become a minority in the future and then we're gonna dominate you" so we can talk about the possible places where non college educated whites may have picked up the idea that the left is racially hostile to them.

And there it is. That's the fear that drives today's GOP.

No there really has - the Democratic party is where identity politics has long had it's home. That's why Biden thinks he can say that If You Don't Vote For Him You Ain't Black - because the Democratic party has long seen itself (correctly) as the home for African American identity politics. Over the past half decade, we've witnessed America's second major party follow suit, much to our loss as a country. :(

This is because you labor under the racist view that white people, being the dominant culture, are simply the norm, and all other people's are a deviation from that norm. "Soccer moms", "NASCAR dads", "the working class" with "economic anxiety" all relate to one identity group: white people.

Yeah, we're a few years past 2017. Conservatives see us as domestic enemies, and racism is more prevalent than we ever suspected. We get that now.

Tragic that he teaches his flock to see their neighbors as enemies, and that his family would turn on each other over it. :(
Why shouldn’t he? The left fully believes everyone on the right is their enemy. They openly say so, they persecute Christians with glee, if you’re a Catholic adoption agency who won’t place kids with homosexuals you get shut down, if you won’t make a cake for homosexuals you get shut down, they are now beginning to argue children should be forcibly transitioned against the Wishes of their parents. The left holds institutional power to where leftist rioters are released without charges where as conservative protestors who committed no violence and entered a building with doors held open by cops are being persecuted with insane charges.

Ok, if that’s granted as true, so what? I think there’s nothing wrong with white working class voters having their own interests and they should be considered equal to claimed race interests of blacks.

but to that end I don’t think issues and interests of working class white voters have zero overlap with others. My girlfriend is Hispanic, both her parents emigrated from Mexico. I’m in the same social class and make the same ballpark income as her father. We talk about work all the time and share a similar outlook on life. I find it hard to believe that political issues facing the “working class” apply solely to non Hispanic whites.

In fact, a policy of nationalism and reindustrialization would lead to higher wages for many black and Hispanic workers

Another story from a left-wing rag and the idiots on the left and the right comment on it as if it is completely true. What is wrong with this picture?

Do tell the "idiots" which part isn't true.

That he didn't say what's attributed to him (it was caught on tape)? That she isn't his daughter (prove that one)? That she isn't a liberal (prove that one too)?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be on pins and needles waiting for proof of your claim that this is an untrue story.

Yeah, politicians indulge in that sort of hyperbole. I don't remember that being constantly hammered by right wing news outlets and talk show hosts like "Biden stole the election" "Democrats are coming for your guns" "Democrats are socialists" "Obama is a Muslim who hates white people". It just goes on and on and on.
Well, there are several open socialist serving in the Democratic congressional caucus, There is multiple Democratic politicians who are in favor of banning all firearms including one sitting member of Congress who suggested nuclear weapons would be justified against American gun owners. Obamas not a Muslim so I’ll give you that, I don’t know that he hates white people, but he clearly indulges in racial politics against whites. So the statement that Barack Obama hates white people is a hyperbole, but it is based in his words and actions

I doubt he forgets his kids are liberals and I bet he hates it. It doesn't mean he doesn't love his kids, but just believes they are wrong. He supports his beliefs.
I'd agree that he may love his kids, but his nonsensical rhetoric also labels his kids as "evil". He preachers this crap!!! Plus, he calls Trumplicans to go to war with the Liberals. Again, that includes his children whether he thinks so or not. There's some churches that simply don't deserve to exist because of their religious leaders who preaches war and hate against others.

Glad my family doesn't run to the media to air our disagreements.
True that, but after so many years of hearing their pappy speak in this way against people, in which includes them also, I suppose that they thought that this would be the only way to wake his stupid ass up. To possibly shame him to his senses by going public. I'd be surprised if it'll work though.

That's literally right wing rhetoric for about 30 years. The entire reason we are where we are is because Limbaugh-style pundits and talk show hosts have been conditioning conservatives to see liberals as domestic enemies for decades.

And religious (mostly) evangelical fundamentalist rhetoric too. I would not be surprised if the same person was teaching his flock to see the LGBT people as enemies.

...

This man teaches his flock to look at their neighbors as something to be feared. That's a tragic perversion of the New Testament. His daughter uses it to attack him publicly. That's a tragic inside attack from within a family. Everyone here seems broken :(.

When we have the perversion of the New Testament by the prosperity gospel of various televangelists who believe that being materially rich is a sign of divine blessing, it should not be surprising to see such distortions of the New Testament message.

Daddy preacher is a real winner!! Get ready for war against Liberals while all of his children are Liberals. The FBI needs to check him out.

Daughter of Pro-Trump Evangelical Pastor Calls Out Father for Calling Dems Evil: 'That's Me' (msn.com)
Back in September, Joyner, 71, urged American Christians to "mobilize" and "get ready" for a war against liberal activists. The religious leader reiterated those views earlier this month. "It will be a civil war and it's going to be increasingly worse with the increasing time it takes for Americans to stand up and push back against this evil that has taken over our land," Joyner said on The Jim Bakker Show.

But Joyner's children have pointed out that, if any such conflict were to actually break out, they'd be aligned with the side opposite their father.

"He talks about Democrats being evil, forgetting that all five of his kids vote Democratic," Joyner's eldest child, Anna Jane Joyner, 36, a climate change activist and podcast host, told The New York Times recently. "Who is he asking his followers to take up arms against? Liberal activists? That's me."

That child is me, my wife and kids, and the rest of my extended family are acting like that pastor, with the exception of maybe two cousins and a couple of nieces and nephews.

Supported by the Even Jelly Cool interpretation of "the poor" as "the wicked".
"Oh, you're poor? That's because you deserve to be poor, due to your wickedness."

Trumpism mental illness reaches many family trees. Not only the US either. Sorry to hear about your situation.
