When the United States resisted Soviet imperialism over seven decades, liberals lost no opportunity to accuse the country of supporting evil. Then the Soviet Union fell, in good part because its own people realized that free markets and electoral democracy were better for them. In the eyes of Europe and Asia we won because they realized we had the moral advantage. That is why China now has a wealthy entrepreneurial class, and why Russia just introduced a 14% flat tax. No, those places are not ideal, not even close. But they are better than before.

Communist regimes murdered 100 million people for resisting the revolutionary ruling class. By leading the West in opposition, the United States always kept a clear moral narrative.

In every major conflict, the United States has sought not only military victory, but a clear moral logic. The Civil War had two moral goals: To preserve the union and to abolish slavery. Both caused huge arguments in the country.

We are indeed the only country in the world that was founded on a clear moral and political program. The Constitution and Declaration are first of all statements of the moral values and goals of the founders. That wasn't just empty twaddle we see every day in the leftist media; real morality not an ego game. It is a high standard of conduct for ourselves as individuals, and together, as a society.

The United States does not seek conflict; our major wars have had an evident defensive narrative, from 1776 to 1990. We have always had heated debates about the morality of our actions. That is entirely appropriate. But we have never stopped seeking the moral high ground, and often achieved it.

The Obama Administration has lost that narrative.

That can plainly be seen by how the first four years and now the second term have been handled. Look at how the economy has been handled. After more than 4 years unemployment is still stagnant. In actuality it is worse because most jobs, thanks to Obamacare are part time. Then there's the foreign policy. The retreat from Iraq and now the perceived coming retreat from the ill handled Afghanistan war. Let's not forget Obama's 'Arab Spring' and Obama's overt backing of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood.

"Let's not forget that the GOP lost last year because it it's on the wrong (Losing.) side of every social issue.

BTW- Who caught and killed Osama bin Laden?

"Better day's are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time, GOP.

Gun control?

Gun control?

If you have something to say about gun control, I guess that you can go ahead and say it, but this isn't a gun control thread.

Umm, I was referring to YOUR post (which I quoted). I don't see how you could fail to understand.

This post is so laughable I almost don't know where to begin. Let's start with a point the article glosses over in the first sentence. "When the United States resisted Soviet imperialism over seven decades, liberals lost no opportunity to accuse the country of supporting evil." While I have no doubt in comparison to the USSR the US was the "good guys", we certainly supported a lot of governments that could be categorized as morally objectionable - the Shah of Iran, Bautista in Cuba, Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe, the House of Saud, South Vietnam, heck we backed Sadam Huissien at one point in history. "Morality" has almost always played a very small part in our foreign policy - mostly as propaganda to justify actions we believed were in our own self interest. This was all done in the name of realpolitik and that policy has not changed under Obama.

The article also makes the laughable assertation that the Civil War was fought in part to "abolish slavery". I suggest the author pick up any high school history book and he'll learn just how incorrect that is.

Then the articles goes on to claim we support Iran - by not meddling in their internal affairs (though it criticizes every other effort the Obama administration has made to influence the internal affairs of other Arab nations). This is such twisted logic and such a hypocritical criticism its clear Obama can do no right according to this author.

And to our OP, are you criticizing the end of the Iraq war, which was pretty much on the timetable Bush set up in the U.S.–Iraq Status of Forces Agreement? Would you really rather have our troops still there? Or are you just blindly criticizing every action Obama has made in office? I think I know the answer.

My quote of you and reply was a clear point. I'm not sure how you fail to comprehend, I think everyone else can see it clearly.

You appear to be making a point of your own but that's not my fault.

What do you expect from The American Thinker?

While Team Obama and the MSM scurried to hide and lie about Benghazi-Gate. Even Obama lied straight faced to the American people that the attack was all about some obscure video. BTW it was Seal Team 6 that caught and kill OBL after years of accumulation of intelligence and interrogation of captured terrorist, all of which Obama seemingly has not done since elected.

Yes Obama is a continuation, and many cases an expansion of bush.

Now, you have the choice :
- denounce Obama for the same reason you denounced bush... And then you would find that there are many people who hated bush for being evil and hate Obama for the same reasons... Or
- just accept that when it comes to the issues you are a bit of a hypocrite, so long as your party committing the crimes.

Who caught and killed bin laden?

Allegedly a group of SEALS. Which, if this is the case, would have known that he was there for years...

However, bin laden had a disease that saw him with a life expectancy of a year or two after 2001, and that's with life support and dialysis... He was likely dead years prior.

If it would have served as a necessary distraction, bush might have taken credit for bin laden and probably under similar circumstance.

Oh, and that photo of them watching the raid was a complete fake photo op.

Pretty much 100 percent on the money.

Wehrwolfen just doesn't like President Obama, What Obama does or doesn't do has little to do with it.

What do you expect from The American Thinker?

I have read some of the incoherent drivel that the American Thinker Spews, I call it the American Stinker.

Total bull **** and you know it, that makes you an egregious liar.

The CIA and SEAL team Six.

Who was the Commander-In-Chief who gave the orders that made it happen?

"Better days are coming." ~ But not for today's out of touch, running out of time, GOP.

I'm an Atheist/Socialist/Libertarian. I support the end of all our interference in the middle east, and think the free market is a quick path to slavery. By OP's standards, I'm a very dangerous person. Oh, and I love this country and salute our flag daily. Does that make me more or less dangerous?

Obama was responsible for the Arab Spring????????

Who was the Commander-In-Chief who gave the orders that made it happen?
Are you implying that some other COC wouldn't have made that command?

It was about timing, it just so happened we got the Intel where he was whlie Obama was President.

Giving him credit for it is quite foolish.

One more time: if you have something to say, go ahead and say it, I don't have time to waste with you.

I believe I've said everything that needs to be said. My point is apparent. It seems you haven't finished expounding upon your point, so why don't we give you more time to make that clear.
