This should be interesting

D.C. Police to contact GOP Rep. Boebert about plans to bring Glock to work
"That Congresswoman will be subjected to the same penalties as anyone else that’s caught on the D.C. streets carrying a firearm," said police chief Robert Contee III.

Washington, D.C.'s police chief said Monday he intends to reach out to GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert about her intention to carry a Glock handgun in the city, which has strict limits on carrying concealed firearms.
Chief Robert Contee III, when asked during a press conference about the newly elected Colorado lawmaker’s plan to carry a gun to the Capitol, said he wants to ensure that "she is aware of the what the laws of the District of Columbia are."

Boebert has made no secret of her intent to bring a handgun to the Capitol complex

Definitely see this ending up before the bench at the Supreme Court.

I think that the District of Columbia has some of the most unique problems in the world when it comes to legal carry of firearms however I do not believe it is impossible to carry a gun legally there.
Where I DO see the problem is on land and locations occupied and used BY the federal government.
And of course, that DOES mean Capitol Hill.

In the days of The Old West, sheriffs routinely demanded that gun owners check their piece upon entering the center of town, and pick it back up on their way out. It was the reality then, and in a DC where permitted carry is legal, it would have to resemble those locations in the Old West, because the Federal Government is not about to bend over for the privileges of one lawmaker. And as the landlord, they have every right to enforce whatever policy they see fit.
They have responsibility to a huge concentration of people.

And I say this AS a gun owner myself.

She wins either way. The gun nuts will lap it up.

Part attention-whoring, part fund-raising stunt.

There's no need for people other than police to be carrying guns around inside the capitol building. She first wants to virtue-signal to the gun lover portion of the base (people who act like the 2nd should be the one and only absolute constitutional right). Then she wants to say "waaaaaaaah, I'm a victim! I got arrested (for deliberately violating the law in a public stunt)! Give me money to fight the Hated Librulz! GIVE MONEY FOR FREEDUMBZ!"

Interesting background for a representative of the gun crowd...

Hold on. I think we all need to see that right here in-thread:

Why would this make it before the Supreme Court?

Lauren Boebert/Lorena Bobbit

Either way don’t sleep on her!

Google José Calvo Sotelo. There is a reason rightists need to carry arms while working in government

Story from the Denver post

Congressional candidate Lauren Boebert has a history of minor arrests, court no-shows
Rifle Republican has been arrested and summonsed four times in the past decade

He was killed because his buddies murdered a cop(who had been targeted because another fascist thug got killed during a shootout at the funeral of a cop). Cops, funnily enough, tend to despise cop-killers . Who could have imagined that

Why isn't this story in the Gun Control section? It obviously has nothing to do with the Georgia election tomorrow.

I thought it was illegal to bring a gun in a Fed building.

I thought it was illegal to bring a gun in a Fed building.

That's precisely the point.
And for legal permitted gun owners, a lot of federal buildings have a procedure whereby firearm owners enter a kind of "sally port" where they check their piece and pick it back up upon exiting. In DC one rarely sees this because their gun laws are more strict but speaking on a personal level, I see no reason why RESIDENTS (who live IN the residential areas - which are laid out specifically AS residential areas) cannot conceal carry.
They should be allowed to do so, but as you said, I doubt it would change policy at federal buildings, particularly on Capitol Hill, and if they've bent to accommodate this lawmaker, they are opening a Pandora's Box that was closed decades ago for a very good reason, armed lawmakers do not behave well.

Another of our "law and order" Republicans lol.

Proving my, point. The left believes murdering congresspeople is an acceptable political action.

Whereas the right celebrates murdering cops, and cries when that leads to consequences.

Seriously bud, using 1930s Spain as “proof” of anything in the US today is laughable.

She's not from my Colorado District, but I definitely like this woman.

I like her response to the political nonsense from that DC Police Chief.

He openly said it.

did you grow up in Quebec?
Who did? Someone named 'The Left'?

Ever hear of Surrey, BC? I was growing up there while it was earning It's reputation.

One of the dumbest posts I've seen in awhile.
