The best part of this is he has only outed two of many. Now every sum'bich who thought it would be cool to flex their anonymity muscles on a teenage girl are crapping their pants not knowing if they are the next target.
This makes me smile.
Didn't you read the article?
Shillings had long list of people and he gave them all a chance to apologize and I guess most of them did except for the two that he's made public.
I wondered that too. The article said he just did a simple internet search. But after I saw the tweets it was easy to see how he tracked them down because they left a lot of clues. And I must say...the sicko's deserved to be punished.
I agree with that also. However, I think the whole Facebook/Tweet thing is pathetic itself. There are scumbags out in the world who received the greatest gift when they could bully people anonymously. The greater lesson is to either avoid these sites altogether, or to grow thicker skin. There is no protection from scumbags on these sites.
Sure there is. The OP of this thread is an example. Find them, out them, and explain to them that internet sexual threats come with real world consequences.
That's one way to deal with it. The other is to grow thicker skin, or avoid them altogether and get to know someone face to face.
My understanding is there are more than the two who have yet to apologize. Why'd you have to be a buzzkill?

Nah. You go after my daughter, I'm going to do my best to see that you regret it.
Think of it as a digital broken windows policy. When these punks get away with misbehavior online, it makes the more likely to misbehave elsewhere. Also, you are going after my daughter. That's going to hurt. You.
Twitter is troll land. It should come as no shock.
Not sure who was more shocked, the dad reading the tweets....or the trolls after the dad contacted them. In this case, I think it was the latter.
Trolling might be a good indicator as to how some people in society would behave without any laws, rules or consequences (total freedom). I don't know if it's the anonymity or the obsessive need to be noticed....but there is something about the internet, Twitter especially, that just seems to bring out the stupid in even the most intelligent people. When one wrong 'tweet' can destroy entire careers....it's just mind boggling why so many people think they can behave differently on social media than they would in public. It's just bazaar. Many trolls show a remarkable ability to usually feel entitled to harass or speak ill others yet not receive similar treatment in return. It's quite fascinating, if not downright amusing, to see them hold their tail between their legs when they are openly and frankly called out.
So if some d-bag made vile comments to your wife would you turn to your wife and tell her to grow thicker skin or would you put a fist in the loser's teeth?
