When Curt Schilling’s daughter was sexually threatened on social media by horrendous Twitter trolls following her father’s congratulatory tweet about her admission to Salve Regina University, the World Series Champion wasted little time in going into attack mode.
Just like his playing days, Schilling quickly developed an aggressive strategy and, if he’s right, the result will be the same as so many batters who entered the box against him: The guys who made sexually explicit and aggressive references about Gabby Schilling will be out. In two cases, they already are.
In a telephone interview with USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday, Schilling spoke candidly about his initial reaction to the vile tweets. In particular, he focused on two strings of tweets that were sent by two men: A New York Yankees part-time ticket sales employee that Schilling identified through internet search as Sean MacDonald and a DJ at Brookdale Community College in New Jersey identified by Schilling as Adam Nagel. Since Schilling first outed the duo on his personal blog, 38Pitches, Nagel has been suspended from Brookdale Community College and MacDonald has been fired by the Yankees, according to NJ.com. Neither man is using the Twitter account from which they sent the messages to Schilling.
Those Braves fans sure can carry a grudge...

Good for Curt Schilling. He tracked these scum down and outed them resulting in one being fired and the other being suspended from school.
They were saying the most vile things about a young girl that didn't deserve this treatment.
If you want to see what they were tweeting, you can find it on Schilling's blog, 38 Pitches.

I am curious as to how he was able to track them down since they were using anonymous accounts
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you." - Curt Schilling
Shilling needs to grow a thicker skin.
I agree. When vile Facebook posts have the power to cause someone to take their life, this whole Tweet, Facebook, etc., BS needs to be put in some different perspective.
I find the whole thing completely lame, but I understand some people like the connectivity these sites provide.
Grow a thicker skin. It's just words on a page from pathetic losers. The world is full of them.

Sometimes you need to smack the pathetic losers hard, especially when the pathetic losers are targeting your children.
On twitter? I would tell her to close her twitter account. Remind her that we are famous (relatively) and learn that haters gonna hate.So if some d-bag made vile comments to your wife would you turn to your wife and tell her to grow thicker skin or would you put a fist in the loser's teeth?

I agree with that also. However, I think the whole Facebook/Tweet thing is pathetic itself. There are scumbags out in the world who received the greatest gift when they could bully people anonymously. The greater lesson is to either avoid these sites altogether, or to grow thicker skin. There is no protection from scumbags on these sites.
actually the lesson is that you may think you are posting, or tweeting in anonymity, but hiding in your basement, and throwing out vile remarks to people, sometimes will have repercussions
just being a troll and an ass because you think you are safe.....well, maybe not so much
and if it shuts a few up, or makes a few think before hitting the word send, the world just became a little bit better today
yes...we live in a free society, and you have the right of free speech
but that doesnt mean you cant be held liable, or culpable for what you say or post
I'm all for eye for an eye. I think exposing these little pukes is great. The better the complete public humiliation, the better. With Schillings money, I'd probably do billboards.
I guess I'm more referencing the whole social media thing. It is astounding to me that people would view what is posted as sufficiently relevant they would take their own life over comments someone would post against them.

Or to expose them and get them fired... that is my #1
That too! :yt
