Current TV Series You'd Like To Recommend

This is not a recommendation, but a warning. The new Velma show, is absolute trash. I'd rate it -1000/10. It's one of the worst things that I've seen this year.

I got through half the first episode before calling it quits. It is trying so hard to be edgy and funny, but it fails in that endeavor 100% of the time. Terrible show, HBO.

I expect it won't get a second season.

I saw Invincible season 1 and liked it. Season 2 is supposed to be coming out this year:

I saw that Picard, Season 3 is about to be released on Paramount+ so I jumped on catching up on Season 2.

Season 2 starts slow because episode 1 sets the background (finally realizing that many series are like that) but after that, it gets pretty good. I've watched 4 episodes so far and it's very "Star Trek" and "episodic" almost in the traditional ST series way.

Looking forward the the rest of series.

So I recently watched Wednesday.... and it was surprisingly good. I had some issues like an unnecessary love triangle (which didn't really work) and I had some issues with the last episode, but all in all a surprisingly good experience.

So yeah, the trailer isn't good, which is why I did not have high hopes. And also it was years and years ago since Tim Burton was good. Burton directed I think 4 of 8 episodes.

On a complete different note. Over on Amazon Prime Video I started to watch Legend of Vox Machina. Despite being a critter I did not watch season 1 until recently (I was afraid it would suck), and season 2 just started.

It's glorious.

I burn through Stranger Things each time the season is released. I want to immerse myself in Black Mirror, but don't have the time right now, and after watching the first couple of episodes, I feel like this is the kind of TV show that you can't just burn through. You're going to want to watch an episode, sit, think about it, swirl it around in your mouth like a nice sip of cognac, think about it some more, and then move on.

I used to watch Longmire, and really enjoyed it. Netflix picked it up when it was dropped by AMC, which was fine, but it just finished its final season. I felt like I'd lost a friend when I watched the final episode. :(

Also loved Hell on Wheels, which is also on Netflix now.

Being a child of the 80's i thought i would enjoy Stranger Things, it just didnt work for me. Twice i attempted to get into it, I would make it 3 episodes in and give up. I found the story moved to slow, but perhaps I am missing something, it's extremely successful.

Yeah it’s a great show. I love shows that bring me back to my childhood.

It's got a strong Stephen King vibe to it -- paranormal, supernatural, govt conspiracy, young teen friends, etc.

Darn

I was going to check it out

But after your review maybe not

Do Shaggy and Scooby-Doo at least make an appearance?

I consider myself a tv snob. I dont want to waste my time with crap. I do lots of research and look for opinions of shows to watch first.

(SAFE - sadly, only one season)

Broadchurch

YOU -- Not a chick flick

Your honor

Broadchurch, one of my favorites.

The Epitome of Cool

The epitome of cool is being known by your first name. There are few artists who have won that acclaim and I've compiled a short list of musicians that are completely unique, influential and respected. Quincy. Miles. Loretta. Tina. The common thread is that we have some fantastic films to stream with THIRTEEN Passport in which you will hear and see amazing artists at work, who are driven to move and create.

Watching the third season of Succession on DVDs from the library. Makes me want to buy a black car 'cause all the rich and powerful people ride around in black cars.

Found this on my box and decided to watch. I like it because of the scientific premise behind the show. It is scary to think about.

Sorry if this repeats, but "White Lotus."

I think we're the only ones. No one responded to my thread about it:

Weird, because it's pretty popular.

Of course, I am biased, as I am Sicilian, and have visited the island several times. Lemme know people, if you want tourist tips.

Scooby does not appear at all. They cut him out (good for Scooby; doesn't have to be a part of that hell).

Just started watching the first season. Pretty good so far.

Also started The Last of Us. Episode 3 was excellent.

Tulsa King (2022) Stallone stars as a mafia capo who gets sent to Oklahoma after serving a 25 year rap and has to start from scratch. I love mob shows, but this was strangely tame, like a Canadian show- not too much violence and almost no blood and gore. I guess its maybe because its being shown on MTV? (Boy that channel is nothing like it was when it started up). All in all, not too bad, but not too good either. Rating: 6/10

Madoff: the Monster of Wall Street (2022) 4 part documentary about how Bernie Madoff with a lot of people's money (get it? lol). I didn't have anything else in the queue and I thought I knew it all already, but this docu did hold my attention. Turns out there were more interesting tidbits from what happened. Worth watching for the added insight. Rating: 7.5/10

Treason (2022) I normally love spy shows, but I havent been too impressed by all of the recently released British stuff (Slow Horses, A Spy Among Friends, The Ipcress File, etc.) because of all the woke revisionism in them, but this one was strangely compelling, even though the whole thing was ludicrous from start to finish. Charlie Cox stars as a young replacement who becomes director of British MI6, but his past dalliance with an ex-Russian spy comes back to bite him in the ass. It doesn't make much sense, and the characters do very dumb things to keep the plot moving, but the pacing is fast and holds your attention, provided you dont think too deeply about it. Rating: 5.5/10

Treason, great show.
I am watching "inside man", previously recommended by someone else. Great show.

Inside Man, with Stanley Tucci, was really good! I'm hoping for a 2nd season. There seems to be some foreshadowing for one at the end of season 1.

Was there much humor in Tulsa King? I like shows like that that are also fun/funny.

Yellowstone

This series was recommended by my brother and seemed to get good reviews. I wanted to catch it in chronological order, so we started with “1883.” I realize that “1883” was shot as a prequel to “Yellowstone.” Another second prequel was “1928” and it has only released four episodes, next to start on 5FEB23. “1883” was well done and ”1928” has been decent for four episodes. We went back and started “Yellowstone,” after the other two offerings. If we had started with “Yellowstone,” we may never have tried the prequels. “Yellowstone” is awful, acting is bad and the plot lines aren’t rooted in any reality. “Yellowstone” brings”Dynasty” or “Falcon Crest” to mind except with soft porn and profanity added.

”1883” brings “Dances With Wolves”, “Lonesome Dove” and “Little House On the Prairie” to mind.
