Its clear that dying Juchi project has no chance against NATO/USA in Azov&Black sea. NATA has to bring its fleets in Azov&Black sea as soon as possible

"The plans of the Russian Navy to make ships and submarines with the Caliber cruise missiles an effective non-nuclear deterrent by 2020 have failed, according to Izvestia.
The large-scale equipment of the fleet provided by the state armaments program for 2011–2020 with the prospect of moving into second place after the United States (the missile salvo of Americans is about 4,000 units) did not happen.

The timeframes for the construction of new ships and the modernization of submarines have significantly moved. For example, of the 26 corvettes and frigates planned to be built, the carriers of the Calibrov, only four ships joined the fleet. The modernization of Project 949A submarine cruisers, as well as other ships and submarines, was delayed.

Now the Russian fleet has only eleven small ships and boats equipped with the Caliber complex with a total potential salvo of 96 missiles, as well as seven diesel and from three to five nuclear submarines also equipped with these weapons.

Such slow rates of rearmament create a potential threat to the strategic stability of the Russian Navy and endanger the country's defense capability.

Oh look, trust me, I could write a book on this subject.

Litwin actually has an element of truth in his typically one sided account. The Navy has suffered a terrible decline since the Cold War, we can't afford to build a major ocean going surface fleet, and neither do we have the capability.

But much of this decline stems back to Yeltsin. Our naval doctrine has shifted under Putin to a more affordable focus on a) modernising a versatile and potent submarine fleet and b) developing a green water surface fleet with precision strike capabilities.

It's a journey. I'm optimistic that our newest corvettes and frigates are very capable of performing their roles. Incompetence and corruption in naval command (especially the Baltic fleet) is being addressed. We are professionalising and re-focusing.

I know that balance is not in favour in this forum. If you want to believe that Litwin's propaganda is all there is to know - be my guest. But you'd be foolish.

paid troll lies as usual, death of Muscovite fleet has nothing to do with Yeltsin , its a product of ozero corruption , and general decline of mongol empire

There's no point trying to reason with a troll.

As I've suggested before, given how weak Russia is, I'm sure that even the Lithuanian army could poke a stick and shatter the whole crumbling edifice. Be a hero.

" given how weak Russia is" well.I'm sure that even the Lithuanian army , well after what you did to all us during your 75-55 years of Asiatic brutal occupation its a miracle that we exist today . thats why we need NATO, as long as juchi empire exists

"The "Russian" Navy Is on the Verge of Collapse

The Kremlin has announced that Russia will hugely boost its naval operations in 2015.

But that’s an empty promise—or threat, if you will. In fact, the Russian fleet is on the edge of a precipitous decline in ship numbers and combat power, owing to huge industrial shortfalls that have been decades in the making.

“As for missions of Russian naval ships, there will be 50 percent more of them than in 2013,” Gen. Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian general staff, told a TV audience in December.

But Gerasimov’s vow belies a bleak future for the Russian navy. Even if the fleet is busier in 2015 than it was in 2013, in coming years it will have fewer and fewer ships to be busy with—and those that remain will be progressively smaller and weaker than rival vessels ...So the Russian fleet’s 50-percent-more-hectic 2015 could be one of its last busy years for a good long time—at least in any meaningful sense of the word “busy.” More and more, Moscow’s navy will have to stay home...s. Vladimir Putin’s regime, the Kremlin has laid plans to rebuild the fleet. But that’s easier said than done when the vessels most badly in need of replacement are also the most difficult to build—heavy cruisers, powerful destroyers and Admiral Kuznetsov, Russia’s sole aircraft carrier, which is barely seaworthy after nearly three decades in service.

So if lithuania can do it go ahead and do it, you can lead them, the most powerful military on earth has walked on eggshells to avoid any conflict with them but they must be so weak, so go do it, prove to the world russia is that weak, heck if it is as weak as you claim you only need a single speed boat with two lithuanian soldiers to take russia.

Fyi though the russian blackfleet is 45 warships and six subs, and also the age does not mean it is collapsing, because if that were the case americas navy would be on the verge of collapse. Reality is ships can be upgraded and used for many decades, not something that must be brand new on a constant basis like your link infers. Most navies use ships even going back to the 50-60's with upgrades until they either become beyond the point of continuous service or become too obsolete where they can no longer be upgraded to meet mission and doctrine requirements.
