Easier to cheat on taxes that wayMy pastry chef only takes cash.
What a ****in pain in the ass it is.
His pantries, cakes are so good, I have to put up with it.
Or no more than the actual cost to run the transaction, which I've heard is 2% on most purchases.
So if I buy 5 dollars from a C Store (usually run by store owners with English as a 2nd language) I
should not have to pay 50 cents or even 75 because I used a debit or credit card.
It seems to me that when they get payments in cash, it's a way for them to money launder.
Plus, again, I doubt that a 5 to 10 dollar transaction costs them 50 cents to run
They're profiting off it instead of just accepting it's the cost of doing business.
I don't see it with business run by people who are Native American speakers (or nearly as much)
Yea, they probably do launder money if they can collect in cash instead.

That's the point. They constantly do this. And they may tell you the fee but often for small purchases it is more than 5%Pretty sure it's illegal to charge more than 5% of the total and they have to have it posted or tell you before they do it.
...except that's how the CC company sets its fees.Or no more than the actual cost to run the transaction, which I've heard is 2% on most purchases.

Why not just pay cash and save that money? Too lazy?Or no more than the actual cost to run the transaction, which I've heard is 2% on most purchases.

Got a link for that? If it is I guess I will take back what I said (thought it was just 2%, no or higher)....except that's how the CC company sets its fees.
It's typically "2% or 50 cents, whichever is larger."
What nonsense is this? They can't just refuse to report a purchase because it was made in cash. Where are you shopping? "Joe's Back Alley Black Market"?

Was just in Door County, WI, and most places charged an extra 3% if you used a credit or debit card.I see it in every business I go in, no matter who is running it.
A lot are starting to give "discounts" if you pay in cash.
I moved recently and we had plantation shutters custom made for our windows, the place that did it had a discount if you paid in cash/check vice using a card. The moving company we used had the same thing.
We took advantage of both.

I think that used to be not allowed, but I guess it’s ok now.
Well, call them out on it then. That's the point. They constantly do this. And they may tell you the fee but often for small purchases it is more than 5%
No one carries cash anymore.
Its silly too in fact.
The credit , debit card fees are simply built into the cost of the products for the most part.
Plenty of people carry cash.
You make some really odd statements with absolute certainty that just... no... you're wrong.
How pretentious. Those are the areas that are among the ones with "Must accept cash" laws: New Jersey, Connecticut, Philadelphia along with many others considering such laws along with Congress.Maybe its just because I am from the progressive northeast.
I can't speak to deplorable areas that never progress.

I live in a deplorable area, do I? Did you even bother to look at my location?
I always carry cash. I always see other people paying in cash. I don't know wtf you're talking about. And while I won't give my exact location because reasons, I will say I live between 2 and 30 miles northeast by north of Boston. Nice neighborhood. And people carry cash.
A lot of your views are so damned ... weirdly damned closed-minded.
You wont be eating at some of the best food joints in town, as I told you before. No one carries cash anymore
