Let us be honest, at least to me, cancel culture is of all times. The powers that be always love to cancel new cultures, the powers that be wanted to cancel the rock and roll culture, but failed as it was not to be stymied by the older generation. wanted

But CPAC/Conservatism would love to be cancel culture itself too, but liberals will not allow this (and a lot of independents too). Abortion would be a thing of the past. Social programs would be cancelled, Cultural and societal changes that were progressive would be cancelled if some conservatives get their way. Legal divorce, legal abortion, it would get cancelled if conservatives had their way, especially abortion. But not just that would get cancelled, gay marriage, would be gone. Obamacare would be cancelled already if not for John McCain.

Liberals might love trying to "cancel/silence" unwanted opinions, but that is down to public pressure, if CPAC/Conservatives would have their way early voting would be cancelled, the progress of voting rights would be cancelled, porn would get cancelled. Unwanted television shows would get cancelled, gay kissing on television would be axed immediately.

So I am not sure why conservatives want to describe liberals as "cancel culture" where they themselves would love to cancel decades of social and political progress.

And let me be honest, this is not just a US thing, if parties like Forum for Democracy would have their ways the Euro would be cancelled, the EU would be cancelled, progressive ideas would be cancelled. The same goes with Dutch conservatives and populists (both left and right).

Well, you gotta give people the option they are really thinking about when I write critical stories about conservatism and especially American conservatives because they are even one step further from the center of politics than most European conservatives are.

Its the Social Justice Warrior movement that is the primary offender here, IMO.
Sort of a laughable concept in todays USA to begin with, since rights for all are already enshrined into law and have been for decades.

These poor souls missed the 1960s, and truly believe themselves to be "fighting for equality and civil rights"...LMAO, but they just cant grasp how counterproductive they are. Only divisive and inflammatory.

So I guess most would say its "the left" that are the biggest offender, but these misguided and confused people really aren't "left", they're their own brand of right wing fascists.

They are racist (assume whites are inherently evil and guilty) and they are definitely wanting to squash any dissenting argument.

This is what happens when "wokeness" runs amok.
Thankfully most people are seeing through it, and many more will as time goes by IMO.

Now, we have a REAL problem though with the mobs that are hijacking the justice system, wanting to overrule due process with angry mobbery.

Just watch what happens in Minneapolis, Atlanta, and other places when the legal process finds accused Police Officers "not guilty". The property damage, assaults, stealing, etc will cost us billions.
Thats the last thing we need as a society, but here it comes!

A real clusterfudge, and in my estimation will get worse before it gets better. If I lived in any American city, I'd get out while the getting is good. I feel sorry for those poor souls trapped in the middle of such violence and destruction.

How odd, I am white and don't do that. I assume I am equal to all others and they to me. I would suggest ANYONE who is feeling slighted or insulted by people wanting equal treatment under the law, or are feeling suddenly put upon for their whiteness, needs to smoke a joint, love a woman, hug a child, turn off Fox, and take a deep breath.
I mean I KNOW I only have one life to live, do I want to live it worrying about whether "cancel culture" is gonna get me? That is some serious paranoia there.

Familiarize yourself with such concepts as "White Fragility" that are being tossed around today, and then come back.
People already have "equal treatment under the law" in the USA, thats not remotely what this is about.

I dont give a crap about "cancel culture" personally, because I am one of the few fortunate folks that just doesn't care what others think.

One of the most idiotic conservative parties in the Netherlands Forum voor democratie (forum for democracy) which is a party that is anything but "democratic" as it is anti-semitic, racist, anti-women and idiotic too. An opinion poll under the supporters of political parties in the Netherlands showed that the party is seriously conspiracy theory mad.

51% of the supporters of the party think that the covid 19 virus was created in a lab as a biological weapon. They also think the virus was released to oppress people world wide. Only 13% of the Dutch people believe this (including the voters of PVV and Forum for democracy).

About 1/3 of their voters (31%) say that everybody should refuse to be vaccinated, the only other parties who have more than 10% voters who support this view of refusing vaccinations completely are the PVV (populist anti-Islam party) and the SGP (bible bashing religious conservatives). But for the SGP that is because they seriously dislike vaccines to begin with. Some believe that being vaccinated goes against the commandments of god. Better get polio/measles/other diseases than go against the judgement of god. Because they are convinced that if god wants somebody to get polio it was well deserved because the child or the parents must have sinned against god. You know, religious extremism.
