A month ago, there were about 55.000 new cases per day here (or in US-terms, 2.1 million a day).

That was the World's 3rd-highest per capita daily number (after South Korea and Brunei).

Now, down to 17.000 as of today (still 650k in US-terms), but down by quite a bit.

In 2 weeks, there's Easter and there will still be a bit of winter/spring tourism as a result. But after that, the numbers will drop like a rock, because the summer season only starts in late June/early July, with a lot of Germans etc. coming.

This is good news, but people still need to remain cautious and vigilant. Omicron sub-variant BA.2 is still circulating.

BA.2 is showing up in as the cause of new cases in NYC, which are on the rise. There's been a 5.2% increase in COVID hospitalizations compared to the previous week, is this will be another variant to track with the hopes it won't lead to another large spike in cases and hospitalizations.
