"Alaska is activating crisis standards of care for the entire state and bringing in contracted health workers as staff shortages and influx of COVID-19 patients make it difficult for hospitals to operate normally.

Gov. Mike Dunleavy and top health officials announced the hospital support on Wednesday, the same day Alaska’s new single-day cases hit another record as the highly infectious delta variant drives infections."

I guess they're gonna have to learn the hard way too.

Where is he going to get them from? You know, if one could go back 20 years ago and write a screenplay that told a story about how a massive pandemic was so bad that some hospitals were swamped because a sizable percentage of the American population wouldn't get vaccinated and then took the play to a producer, they'd get laughed out of the office because the screenplay was....according to the producer: "Simply ridiculous" ..implausible...Naw..that would never happen." :(

2nd state-wide one. Hospitals are in crisis care mode across many other states too even if not state wide there (yet?)

But wearing is mask - too much to ask... Getting a vaccine - forget it!

Not learning too fast, I'd say:

Dunleavy has opposed any vaccine mandates. At Wednesday's news conference, the Republican governor defended his positions, citing Alaska's third-lowest rate of COVID-19 deaths in the nation per capita.
In May, voters in Anchorage, the state’s largest city, elected a new mayor, Dave Bronson, who campaigned against health mandates and has repeatedly expressed his refusal to get vaccinated.

Even with their hospitals having to move to crisis level of care (read 'death panels,') the governor and Anchorage's mayor stand firm against mandates or vaccines.
How does that happen? The governor points out that their death rate is low in comparison to other states, but apparently their health facilities and personnel are scant, too. When two patients equally sick are brought to the hospital and only one can get into ICU, you're going to hope it's you who gets the bed. But if the deck is stacked against you, like you're over 70 and the other guy is 40, you lose.

That's what this means and Alaska's leaders still insist on freedumb. I feel bad for the people of Alaska.

It’s not possible for the government to enforce a vaccine mandate. I don’t know why people even bother entertaining the idea.

We've got one in Maine for all healthcare workers. No exceptions except medical.
NYC and Louisiana have vaccine mandates for entertainment venues like restaurants, bars, theaters, stadiums, etc.

Watch us.

Correct. Too small to ask

Where did this idea that liberty is restricted by the purposefully low capacity of our hospital system anyway? The reason healthcare is in crisis is because the government mandated hospitals treat illegal aliens free of charge at emergency rooms and so hundreds of hospitals have closed.

A message from Trump Universe: hospitals in Alaska had to close due to too many illegal aliens

What is Dunleavy's perspective on masks, recommendations to wear masks, and/or mask mandates? If he supports masks to inhibit virus spread while not being willing to mandate or demand vaccines, and his state is suffering, let's help. If, on the other hand, he not doesn't believe in masks but also promotes "vaccine is BAD!" fictions while intimating that masks or mask-wearers are wrong, then let's do what we need to do to make sure his next job is at a Taco Bell franchise.

One of the poorly reviewed ones on Yelp that people avoid going to.

Oh, and we need more health workers from your states that follow guidelines!

Every attempt to gain control over a populace has needed a scapegoat. This current bunch here in the US has settled upon those who choose not to accept the COVID vaccination.

Guess what...even if you vaccinated every tom, dick and mary in the country you could not prevent people from spreading COVID to other people. And some of those vaccinated people, because of other health issues, will end up in the hospital and some of them will die.

But those who are attempting to gain control over the populace have mounted a full bore propaganda campaign against a group of people...and millions of Americans, including you, believe the propaganda.

alasksa is also so sparsely populated that just a few deaths will cause the 'rate per 100K' to rise pretty quickly and pretty dramatically

Please explain what you mean when referring to "gain control over" the populace. Are you saying there is some mysterious entity that now controls those who've taken the various vaccines?

Because just on the face of the facts, it would seem that the only thing anyone wants to "gain control over" is the pandemic - which by all accounts, continues to be out of control.

"gain control over"

Just look at Australia.

This is what happens when a government runs amok.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced that anyone who does not “take the jab” will not be permitted to work, shop, attend any venue or participate in the Melbourne economy. Vaccination passports and identification will be required for all functions of life. What used to be freedom and liberty in the human condition is now contingent upon accepting a government forced vaccine.
The entire nation of Australia is creating a two-tiered society and dividing people between vaxxed and unvaxxed. In essence, they are intentionally creating a fully controlled underclass or apartheid state. The media in Australia are not even presenting an alternative viewpoint or pausing long enough to ask any substantive questions. Within this dynamic, the average citizen is forcibly locked onto a conveyor belt they cannot escape, and at the end of the belt is a needle they must accept, or else they will be discarded.
It is incredible that no-one within the “system”, can pause long enough to give voice to the genuine concerns of the people. It is the absence of having a voice, and the absence of having any due consideration for their concerns, that has created this horrific dynamic. Making matters worse, the media in totality is pushing the only approved government position.
There is absolutely no voice in Australia for a large segment of common society that just want to have their inherent human rights respected. Unfortunately, their constitution does not recognize any rights that are not provided by government. As a consequence, millions of people are increasingly desperate. THAT is what we are seeing play out in the city of Melbourne.
Almost all mainstream media in Australia describe the protesting groups as neo-Nazis, right-wing extremists and domestic terrorists. This ABC news segment below reflects the least amount of propaganda amid hundreds that I have watched describing the events of the past 24 hours. As Americans watch this news report, you might see some stark similarities to how the January 6th protest in Washington DC was framed by U.S. media. WATCH:
