Ok, I haven't been on much except for briefly, because I have been dog sick...and I mean sick. Today is Saturday but last Friday (8 days ago) I started feeling a little tired and had a headache. Then about 2 days later I was coughing, could not get out of bed sick, fever, chills the whole flu nine yards(but it is not flu season.) So, my fever ran between 99.4 and 102 nearly the entire week until yesterday. I have coughed and coughed and literally drank 2 bottles of Nyquil and a bottle of Bromfed....along with Motrin to control the fever. (I know my poor liver) Anyhow, I took the test from CVS, came back negative, but my doctor still thinks it is Covid19 and said that the tests they use have a high false negative rate. Is she right or is this just the worst case of bronchitis in my life?

Anyhow though I have been staying home and doing my part by not going out in case she is right....but this is driving me nuts...was it Covid? Or was it Bronchitis? Anyone know how much the antibody test is and when I could take it after I am better? My fever did break yesterday, but I am still coughing...so inside I am staying.

With the cough...I am talking think how someone having an asthma attack coughs...that type of cough...and then coughing up blood and puking afterwards that bad..yepp...and no its not pneumonia...they checked.

We went to a drive up testing center. My wife tested negative even though me and the kids tested positive. I was the only one who got sick. She must've had it too.

Glad you're felling better.

Feel better Clara!
My granddaughter is getting tested on Monday. If she tests positive, I probably had it too. (back in Jan/Feb)

Do you have health insurance. Many insurance companies are picking up the tab for CV19 testing including the antibody test.

Cost w/o insurance is around $45 - $100 for the antibody test depending on the lab.

"Some symptoms of coronavirus and regular bronchitis caused by another virus or bacteria can be difficult to differentiate. Coronavirus itself can cause bronchitis with a cough, but coronavirus is more likely to also cause shortness of breath, fever, chills, diarrhea, and loss of taste and smell. During the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s best to take extra precautions and treat yourself as if you have coronavirus. If your symptoms are mild, stay home and get some rest to recover. Isolate yourself and stay away from others until you’re fully recovered, so you don’t spread it. If you develop shortness of breath or fever, call your doctor to see if you should be tested for coronavirus."

Is this coronavirus or bronchitis?.

Hope you get better, whatever it is.

I hope she doesn't have it. I have be all sorts of miserable. A few nights ago we debated on going to the hospital it got so bad, but I was more scared of going than toughing it out...because it is likely they would have put me in with other covid patients and if I don't have it then I surely would...so, home I stayed in a steam and vapor rub bath so I could breath

IMO...false negatives for Covid are more common than we think. Countless patients arrive at our office claiming they were tested negative even though they have several or in some cases almost all the symptoms. The most common are fever, cough, and shortness of breath followed by sore throat. However, right up there on the list of common symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea, muscles pain, weaknes/fatigue, chills but no fever, headache, loss of smell, loss of taste, runny nose. Yes, some of these symptoms overlap flu symptoms. Keep in mind the flu test is pretty accurate so if a flu test comes back negative chances are it could be Covid. I personally know several people who were deathly sick back in the early parts of 2020 (Jan and Feb) but tested negative for the flu at the time...this past flu season was the worst in a long time and I believe it is because Covid has been here much longer than we thought.

Bottom line...if you get a negative test but still have any of the common Covid symptoms please don't be fooled into thinking what you have is not contagious because you got a negative test.

She would have had it back in Feb. right after I had it. Our symptoms mimicked covid.
I'm sorry to hear you are so ill. I will pray for you.

thank you for the prayers. If you had it and she did as well you will now have some defenses to the virus thank goodness.

In AZ you can donate blood and get a free antibody test. I hear it takes two to three weeks to get the results. Maybe things are quicker now.

Here in Wash state I donated blood and got my free antibody test results in 10 days.

Giving blood is a win-win deal. They get your blood and you get tested for antibodies.

I didn't realize they do this but I got a text a couple days ago that my blood was shipped to the hospital for a patient. Then you start thinking about it and wonder who has your blood now.

That's what we are hoping to find out. T/Y.

Get well!

I'm just guessing that the high false negative might be with how CVS collects samples. At least around here they give you a swab and tell you how to use it, but I'm guessing many don't do it right. I was worried I didn't get it far enough to what felt like my brain - seemed pretty far, but then I couldn't handle any more and quit trying to go further.
