The point is that if one can feel that a given group within a business is getting paid too much, then it is not illogical to feel that others are as well. If you want to talk about a fair wage, a completely subjective value, then you have to accept that union wages can and are seen to be as bloated as any executive. Would I like to be pulling in the kind of money that union workers or executives get? Hell yeah! But I would rather that it come from the business doing well and not bullying tactic that then force other problems to arise or other benefits to be removed elsewhere. I would rather earn it myself, than have it forced.
The working class in this country is underpaid, theyve beenfalling behind for the last 30 yrs. Most jobs in the last few years lost ground to inflation, either no raises or smaller than the cost of living.
Its about supply and demand, Im not going to go through the entire cycle, ill give a shorter version. In the 50s and 60s mostly only the man worked the mother stayed home and made sure the kids did homework and didnt smoke weed. Then corporations soiled their shorts and FULLY supported the womans movement to work. Some corps became womens heros because they set up free daycare so they could bring their kids to work. WHY?? not because they are so generous and wonderful but because they flooded the marked with female workers that drove wages down for THEIR BENEFIT. Now there was 2 men and 5 women applying for a job instead of 2 men.
When that wasnt enough for them, during reagan they wanted dirt cheap mexican lackeys that never complained and worked for under minimum wage those workers cost them NOTHING. So Reagan listend and gave 3.5 million amnesty to dilute the work force and left the border open. Fast forward 20 yrs we have mexican workers everywhere working for peanuts and dont even know about Oasha rules.
The only working class in this country that can work and actually LIVE decently without getting rich is UNION WORKERS. The rest of the country sucks wind and works for alot less.
This is NOT about corporations not being able to afford to pay decent wages and give benefits and still make profit, this is about corporations wanting free labor.
So true to form as always the GOP fights for the poor downtrodden rich and corporations. The poor dears pay no fed taxs but whine how much they pay. They whine they cant afford anything more than min wage as it is which many who work for it get taxpayer food stamps and other assistance. So in affect taxpayers pay for raises that corporations refuse to give so WORKING AMERICANS can afford food.
The 6 waltons, just six americans, just 6 human beings are worth more than half of all americans and americans who work for them in walmart, WORK and get govt foodstamps and heating assistance and charity health care that taxpayers pay for.
Youre talking to the wrong guy
