A Grand Jury is generally impaneled for a period of 18 months max. Granting a six month extension means that Robert Mueller plans to wrap it up by July. The Grand Jury cannot receive an extension for any more than six months. So, it's coming. He'll hand over his report to the House and they take it from there. Strap on your seat belts.
Robert Mueller grand jury gets more time; judge extends 18-month term set to expire in coming days
WASHINGTON – A federal judge Friday extended the term of the grand jury that has weighed evidence in the Russia investigation headed by Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller.
Chief U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell extended the panel's 18-month term that was set to expire in the coming days.
The panel, whose deliberations are secret, was seated for its regular term in July 2017.
It was not immediately clear whether the extension represented a perfunctory measure to keep the panel intact during what was expected to be the final stages of the inquiry or if the action signaled a more prolonged period of investigation.
Why should we strap on seatbelts? :snore:
Honestly, if Mueller has nothing by now, the delay is
nothing more than a fishing expedition.

He is still badgering Manafort. Has him in solitary confinement and Mueller's team go daily to badger him to remake his story in return for leniency .
Folks like you that would make such a statement are quite scary. You don't believe in equal justice under the law. Some on Mueller's team have been rebuked by judges in the past for doing things like not disclosing exculpatory evidence that resulted in innocent people going to jail.Another reason to love Robert Mueller.
He doesn't hand it over to the House. He hands it to the Attorney General.

Then there's the Stone and Corsi characters he's been going after which amounts to lying and Flynn hasn't yet been sentenced. Speaking of Flynn last week there were reports that exculpatory evidence in regard to Flynn that was withheld from the court. It shows that Flynn was briefed by our intel agencies about Putin and others before heading on the infamous trip to Moscow. And when he returned he was debriefed by the same agencies. The whole thing about Flynn stinks to high heaven.
Who is then obligated to turn it over to the House as will be recommended.

No it isn't a give me that the House will ever see the full report. That is at the discretion of the Atty General. How disappointed will you be if and when the report is turned over to Congress and it is so heavily redacted like most documents Congress requested from former Atty Generals in regard to just about every investigation they have held.
I can't believe you seriously believe the nonsense you write. He is still badgering Manafort. Equal justice is exactly why I love Robert Muellers investigation and the results he is providing to the nation.
No, he's not. It has nothing to do with the House. The report need never leave the AG's office nor be made public. The Special Counsel's report to the Attorney General is confidential.

Poor old manafort, an 8x Felon convicted by a juror of his peers, sentenced by a federal judge, and Vesper is crying...pleading that it's all big Bad Mueller's fault!!
Yeah, it is, but he's not the bad guy in this story. Like haymakret said, good for the nation.

1. Just because they extended the Grand Jury, that doesn't mean Mueller will wait till July to give his report to the DOJ. He can do it at anytime.
2. Even if the Grand Jury was not extended, that doesn't mean Mueller is going to submit his report any time soon. He doesn't HAVE to submit just because he doesn't have a Grand Jury.
3. In my opinion, Mueller will submit his report when the need for investigative cover is no longer necessary. However, he can't really just keep stringing this thing along forever. At some point, he must submit...and go home. I think it'll be shortly after Horowitz releases his report on the FISA abuses.
4. It is possible for Mueller to submit an "interim" report. He might do this to give the House committees some ammunition to keep their nonsense going after they conduct their spectacle with Cohen...if they can get anything useful from the DOJ.
5. If this happens, then Mueller might try to keep on extending the Grand Jury to give himself an excuse to keep his investigation going forever. It would be smart to do this to prevent Trump from dropping his bombshell.
Right, Robert Mueller did not seek an extension simply because he wanted to carry on with an investigation for another six months, he sought the extension because he had to, the 18 months permitted to have a Grand Jury expired. He might wrap up in six weeks or 3 months, but he has up to 6 months to complete or just end the investigation. He cannot keep extending the Grand Jury, this is it, it's a one-time extension only.
Mueller isn't going to wrap up in July.
His office was instituted to find a reason to get rid of Trump. If the Democrats get rid of Trump now it will be called a coup and they don't want to make Trump a martyr. What they will do is use Mueller to dump a bunch of stuff for the 2020 election. Mueller won't close his investigation in 2020 but we'll see "leaks" beginning in August or September of next year. These leaks will be coordinated with the HPSCI and Adam Schiff. If Trump loses in November, 2020 we'll see Mueller wrap up and Trump will be charged with a few civil violations. It Trump wins in November, 2020, we'll see Mueller dump a massive amount of stuff that doesn't really prove anything but can be readily spun into all kinds of conspiracies by "savvy" media personalities. The investigation into Trump and his activities will then be carried out by various House committees for the next 4 years.
That is, the aforementioned will be the way things go unless there is a horrible accident and Air Force One crashes somewhere over the Marianes Trench.
I'm not so sure he is unable to get more extensions. Do you have any information to support that contention?
In any case, he doesn't HAVE to have a Grand Jury. Heck, he has the full investigative resources of the US government at his disposal. The Grand Jury is only useful for compelling people to talk and for bringing charges without going through the DOJ...and we've seen him go through the DOJ already.
Another possibility, though remote, is that the Attorney General might just TELL him to wrap it up by a certain date and submit whatever he has.
Yes, I read it today, this is a one-time extension and there will absolutely be no more. I will search for the link. But there's another reason why Mueller will have to finish this up this year. There's a five year statute of limitations in the federal system for most crimes. It says you can only be prosecuted from five years based on the last time you committed a crime. On a charge of conspiracy for example, that's five years from the last incident of conspiracy. The clock is running and Trump is worried about what the SDNY will do and if he's impeached, say within a year, he would be out of office and fair game for the prosecutors of the southern district and they would be well within the statute of limitations for prosecution.
