Couple wants you to vote on if they have an abortion or not.

1. I "like" plenty of socialists and communists on FB just to debate with them. "/

2. Conservatives are typically against abortion.

3. If this is a pro-life stunt, it's a damned stupid one.

4. Even then, I suspect liberals would defend such actions. If they were liberals then no problem; regardless, they still do things liberals are for. Liberals are for abortion, so they undoubtedly would have no problem if someone hinged their abortion on a vote. Regardless, it is all nonsense.

Well, the liberals in Minnesota were the ones who strongly opposed it and outed it as a scam. So that may not speak for everybody everywhere, but in Minnesota, Liberals WOULD have a problem with this and they were the ones who put an end to the scam.

Being pro-choice is NOT being pro-abortion. I can't believe that anybody would actually think that way. There's a huge difference between supporting a woman's right to choose and supporting abortions themselves.

If what you said was correct, that would also mean that being pro-gun was pro-homicide. So every time somebody murders a person using a gun, conservatives would defend it because they are pro-gun. Right?

Couple never intended to have an abortion. I live in Minneapolis, and I give our local independent paper the City Pages a lot of credit for their work on this issue. Here's the City Pages blog about it if you want to read it.

This is very Andrew Breitbart. There are many young conservatives who pull these stunts to "raise awareness" of their issues. I think they really need to reconsider whether or not the ends justify the means, and if they really are right about the issue, why do they need to resort to such absurd means to make their point? This man constantly condemns people who choose to have an abortion, and do you really think that he's the sort of person who should be judging people? Obviously not.

Dear gods - I just saw their picture - does anyone really WANT that couple to reproduce?

Internet Shock: Couple Lets You Vote on Whether They Get an Abortion | The Blaze

Despite interviewing the couple, Gawker is still skeptical. It lays out three possibilities:

1. It’s is an idiotic prank. Pete and Alisha are intent on becoming famous any way they can, and they’ve hit on an outrageous way to get media coverage. But if this all was a prank, wouldn’t they have gotten the word out before now? They’ve been blogging since September.

2. This is a pro-life stunt. Pete said he’s a non-practicing Catholic, while Alisha is a Methodist. Although the Arnolds describe themselves as political independents with Libertarian leanings, Alisha likes Glenn Beck on Facebook, and a Google search turns up an old pro-Bush comment Pete made on CNN. (Pete said he voted for Bush in 2000, but not in 2004.) Could this site be a confused parable to illustrate the peril of putting an unborn baby’s life in the hands of voters?

3. It’s true. Pete and Alisha are actually going to choose to have an abortion based on an Internet poll.

Whichever it is, it's DISGUSTING. :2mad:

If you are proabortion then how is this any different than asking someone for advice in what you should do? How can you be morally outraged over something you see as a surgery to remove a clump of cells? I am pro-life so I find all abortion appalling and should warrant a capital punishment, unless it is to save the life of the mother. So I can see the pro-life crowd finding this to be disgusting.

Pro-choice advocates don't ignore the fact that a pregnant woman is pregnant. She has a "clump of cells" in her with the potential to grow into a human being, and terminating a pregnancy is a huge choice that carries massive emotional consequences with it. The idea of being pro-choice is advocating that this enormous choice be given to the only person who has a right to decide whether or not an abortion is the right choice. Therefore, putting it up for a vote goes against everything pro-choice people stand for. It takes away the choice of the woman and gives it to public opinion.

Pro-abortionist harp all the time that its a clump of cells and not a human being. So therefore any outrage you people would have over this is idiotic. You people dehumanize an unborn child in abortion so lightly like its no different than some other cosmetic surgery?

Therefore, putting it up for a vote goes against everything pro-choice people stand for. It takes away the choice of the woman and gives it to public opinion.

She made that choice to put it up to a vote, basically a flip of a coin. She can still say no because she did not sign any contracts.

I didn't read the thread. Hope I'm not just repeating other's take on this.
I think it might be a right wing prank to see how sick pro-choicers really are. What would they get out of it? Maybe a "hee hee, I proved I'm a true pro-choicer and will stand by my pro-abortion stance. I just cast my vote in favor of a stranger terminating her pregnancy"
54.54% to 45.46%.
This is sick. I can't believe 45% would actually vote in favor of killing a baby. This country is in more trouble than I thought.

This is the last I'll be commenting on or reading about this couple. I don't care what their politics or motivations are, this is attention seeking behavior in the worst possible taste. I won't be giving them one bit more of my attention

Birth or Not

The voting is closed and they are going to analyze and take out fraud votes. After reading her story there, I don't think it was a joke.

Jeez, guys, do none of you read? I already linked to the reports proving this was a scam. Seriously, read a thread before posting. They are right-wingers and it was all a scam and they were exposed.

A libertarian should understand that libertarianism isn't exactly something many people are the day they vote. It takes a lot second guessing in order for people to become libertarian. Libertarians typically come to it from a conservative perspective(even Walter Block). I still listen to talk radio. Hell, I still watch the news. You can't really fault anyone for doing either considering what's most readily available.

Now obviously there are going to be many exceptions to this assessment but there are 2 types of free market libertarians

One that thinks that people who want immigration laws enforced are racist and love tyranny
or
One that realizes that people do not recognize that the burdens caused by illegal aliens actually come from big government's ability to tax and spend and the lack of a free market

One is libertarian "by nature" and the other is libertarian by reason. The latter will still probably read NY Times and listen to Rush Limbaugh and wouldn't assert that libertarians wouldn't friend Glenn Beck on facebook and wouldn't have voted for Bush 11 years ago, which is actually plenty of time to be nuanced towards libertarianism, a philosophy that doesn't require you to be pro-choice. I'm not trying to imply anything here.

The evidence I've seen in this post (and not on any of the links) does not show me that these people are dittoheads or anything like that.

So . . ???

Internet vote and heavy discussion - not ok.
But national vote on election day over the legality of the entire issue - ok.

Alright - I note the hypocrisy . . .moving on.

I have yet to meet anyone who is "pro-abortion." I am pro choice, and you can read my post about why I think this is wrong. (If it were real)

If you are for allowing abortions to happen, you are pro-abortion... you are pro-death.

I'm not going to play this game with you. I want women to have a choice. I am not encouraging anyone to get an abortion. (That would make me pro-abortion.) I merely recognize it's none of my business.

Pro-life = no abortion Pro-choice = no abortion or abortion
The only difference between the two is abortion so Pro-choice= pro-abortion. Pro-life= ant-abortion

There are more than two positions. There is pro-abortion, that would be promoting abortions and working to have more abortions performed. There is anti-abortion, that would be opposed to all abortions. There are the in-betweeners, that would be allowing for some legal abortions under the circumstances or for the reasons approved of by any one person. There is pro-choice, that would be realizing it's not anyone's business but the pregnant woman. There is "just don't give a damn", that is a totally neutral position and not getting involved in any discussion.

I'm sorry, I should have put a little sarcastic guy there. I just get irritated at people that are so touchie about being classified as pro-abortion, but think abortion is fine. I should have kept my fingers off the keyboard. It's not a battle I choose to get into. It's not worth it and it's not winnable.

I also think cheating on your spouse, swearing, and smoking should be legal. Am I "pro" these things also? Are you?

I understand this is semantics and not that important. I just get irritated when people misrepresent my views. Just as pro-lifers get irritated when they are called "anti-choice."

It really isn't a game when killing is involved. And turning a blind eye as in, "it's none of my business" didn't absolve Germans when Jews were being persecuted either...

Yes, you are for cheating, swearing and smoking. Do you not even understand what the term "pro" means? It means "for"...

pro noun \ˈprō\
plural pros
Definition of PRO
1: an argument or evidence in affirmation <an appraisal of the pros and cons>
2: the affirmative side or one holding it

Origin of PROMiddle English, from Latin, preposition, for — more at for
First Known Use: 15th century

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pro

I just get irritated when people misrepresent their own position because they are ignorant of the language or uneducated...
At those that hold on to some silly notion of being something that they are not and using sematic word games to try and appear what they are not.

Pro-Choice is allowing for others to have abortion. If others have an abortion and you feel that this is their choice, then you are not opposing abortions, you are for abortions. You are in favor of allowing others to have an abortion. People are in favor of child abuse or they are against it... People can't say, "I am pro-Choice, a parent can abuse their child or not, it is none of my business"... (well, they can, but we classify these people as negligent, cowards or not too bright)... People are for murder or against it... they are for euthanasia or they are against it... they are for abortions or they are against it...

What lifers get irritated at being called anti-choice when the "choice" leads to killing?

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Because I don't want to put people in jail for something, suddenly I'm encouraging them to do it? That's a pretty hard fail.

I would advise everyone against smoking, using obscene language, and cheating on their spouse. So of course I'm not "pro" any of these things. Come on guys, get a grip on reality!

When the "killing" involves somebody removing something from their own body, it is none of my business. I don't get to decide what people put or keep in their bodies.

Who said anythin about "encouraging" anybody. You have a major disconnect (or are emotionally compromised) if you think that you have to encourage people just because you are for it. Did you even read the definition? I am not making it up... it has been with the English language since the 1500's.

If you are pro-choice with regards to smoking, you are for allowing others to smoke. Advising them against smoking but having this little caveat that it is ok for people to smoke means that you are for people smoking... You are for smoking. Look, it doesn't get any easier than this. This is elementary school stuff.

So you are now pro-suicide? What if a person decides to put a bullet in a part of their body, say, the brain? What if a person decides that a day before birth, they are going to kill and remove thier baby? None of your business, right?

No, there are only two main positions. A person is for abortions or they are against them. Within each category there are sub-divisions, sure, but they fall in line with being against or being for the abortion. To claim anything else is dishonest.

You did, by the definition you provided. Pro= an argument in the affirmative. An argument for abortion. I am not arguing anyone get an abortion. In my ideal world, no one would. I would never have one. I am pro keeping abortion legal and there is a difference.

Yes! Thank you! I am pro-choice and for allowing others to smoke. I am not for or against smoking as long as it's done away from me. Again, I am pro legalized smoking, not smoking in general.

I am also pro legalized suicide, yes. I am fine with them removing their baby of course. I don't see a need to kill it though.
