Couple trying to get married forced to prove New Mexico is a state

When I lived in Las Vegas I dated a girl to whom I had to explain that New Mexico was a state. Maybe she moved to DC. At the time I just chalked it up to her having been from New Jersey.

And just an hour from me.... Las Vegas, NM. And its much older than Nevada's Las Vegas.

The first time I drove down 25 and saw a sign for Las Vegas I had to do a double take. Of course a little before I got to that sign I saw one for Miami. This boy from NY was damned confused for a few minutes!

I am betting the supervisor who thought New Mexico was a foreign country was on a 6 figure salary. And the clerk was probably his/her friend or relative. And I am betting both these morons are trump supporters. They probably saw the word Mexico and immediately thought 'foreign country'.

Almost NOBODY who works for the government in D.C. votes Republican. Chances are OVERWHELMING that they voted for Hillary. Even I know that, I and I live in Alberta (google it).

Can we be surprised when education has been underfunded and dismissed for over a generation?

Well actually I think the problem is education is overfunded, it's just the unions and not the students see the benefit of the money. guarantee you this clerk didn't go to Catholic school.

We don't know where he/she went to school, who he/she voted for, if he/she voted at all, or anything else about this person.

But, by all means, let's continue to stereotype whichever group we want as all being as ill informed as he/she is.

Thanks for the post. It brings up several thoughts:
1) I can understand why you think so in a socialist state like Washington.
2) Why do you live in a socialist state like Washington?
3) While the Teacher's union gets a lot of press, it's not that strong nor universal. What is the average teacher's pay in Washington? Texas? Mississippi? There's the matter of different costs of living vs actual income.
4) What funding cuts would you make?
5) If the students are being shortchanged, what changes would you make?
