This is a surprising result but the numbers look solid.

[h=2]Conservative shift in public opinion
has happened in all 50 states
[/h] has happened in all 50 states"> John Sides
MONKEY CAGE | What does this suggest for the future? That depends a lot on the 2016 election. :peace
It is also possible that the definitions used in the questions changed, as well
as the people themselves, 50 years is a long time.
What the Democrat party looked like in 1960-64 would be closer to the Republicans
of today, except the Republicans don't have Klan members.:mrgreen:

OK, we tried these stupid liberal policies for eight years, they don't work. They rob us of the prosperity freedom brings. Time to go back to real (Ted Cruz) conservatism. Limit government to protecting us from force and fraud.

Very interesting articles! :thumbs: It seems that since the economy doesn't seem to be improving as quickly as some hoped it would, the "guys on the street" are becoming more conservative in their thinking overall. It's easy when times are good, and money is sufficiently plentiful, to sometimes think it will continue forever. It usually doesn't work that way, though. With food and other necessities costing more and more all the time, people hunker down and become more conservative regarding their family budgets in order to stay solvent. We're seeing this in the retail world now, with many businesses closing their doors due to lack of customers, because they are unsure if they will have jobs. Time will tell.

Greetings, Jack. :2wave:

This isn't a surprise. Policies touted by Reagan or Republicans in the 90s are now being called socialist by today's conservatives.

You truly have my sympathy, having been there, done that! I seriously considered moving into my shed last winter, but it was too cold, the mowers and stuff were in the way so I couldn't cook or sleep, and it was just family, but.... :eek:
