Anyway they won't finish the wall on the southern border, businesses love illegals, they work cheap and they keep the wages down. NO ONE wants to stop illegals, not even Trump and the GOP.. They've had a b'zillion chances to build a wall to stop illegals, and/or fine and jail employers who hire illegal's, but they never step up and stop it, they just talk tough to fool the rubes who vote Republican.. If Trump tries to dismantle Obamacare simply because Obama built it, then the most appropriate payback is to have Obama's VP try to dismantle the wall simply because Trump built it (in fact he did not even build more than a few miles). Biden can aso promise that if he wins the elections, the Trump wall will be replaced by something better or that the first EO he will sign as a president will declare the existence of an impenetrable wall along the broaders which will make unnecesary the conttinuation of Trump's wall.

He liked all the miles of "big beautiful border wall" aka bollard style steel fencing that was built during the Obama years and even embraced the same design and happily put a plaque on a section of it built under Obama putting his name on it.

Like it or not, it's easy to get through these walls, and it doesn't stop border crossers. It also doesn't stop people who drive or fly into the US, and overstay their visas. It also doesn't stop anyone who hides in the back of a truck and is smuggled through the border.

The purpose of the wall isn't to make it more expensive or slower to cross, that is completely and utterly pointless. Yet again, someone who spends weeks traveling from Central America isn't going to be deterred because it takes and extra 10 minutes to climb a rope ladder.

There is no issue if they do it legally.

Of course there is. This is all Covid aside, of course, but Mexicans, thousands of them, cross the border every day. Some are just going shopping, some are going visiting, some have visas for longer stays, and after the immigration officer gives them back their paper, waves them on and looks at the car coming in behind them nobody checks to see if they actually return. 20,000 pedestrians a day cross northbound at San Ysidro alone. Illegal aliens, most of them, cross legally.

Ladders and tunneling gear would qualify as equipment. The fact that it's nearly impossible to get past that without gear pf some kind is relevant. That is an incredibly effective structure and the danger and difficulty of traversing it absolutely serves to mitigate illegal crossing. Is it impossible to pass? No, obviously, but it doesn't need to be.

You are underestimating human ingenuity and desire. Do you think people with the desire to get to the other side won't? Do you think they care about your disclaimer of no equipment? It would probably stop me but then again I'm closing in on seventy.
