This poll is directed toward people of Muslim faith.
Its not a joke it's a serious question.
No one can see who voted for what.

I voted Yes. I think that all people have the innate desire to be happy and get along. It is the Radical element that exists ini every culture and sub-group that tries to create inbalance.

Most people want to have kids and eat decent food and play games and dance and have fun. Most people love what they know and are taught, it is bridging the gap to what they don't know or understand that is fearful, but I think that people can and hopefully will overcome that.

I doubt it.
The Islamofascists arent interested in happily co-existing with us or anyone else that doesn't see things as they do.

Given that, the premise of being able to sit down and 'work things out' with them is fatally flawed.

I would consider the muslims who run the 7-11 in our town to be friends. They are four brothers from Bangladesh who really hate Islamic terrorists and admire the President. I guess that the Islamic terrorists in Bangladesh are a pretty big problem that the gov't there isn't dealing with very well. We were talking me a few months back about the capture of some of the terrorist leaders in B, and they were REALLY happy about it. That was when I found out that they actually admired the President and thought that he was doing a lot of the right things. I got a real earfull about Islamic society and their perceptions of people that night. Muslims respect strength and despise weakness. They see the President as a strong person and while they may not like some of what he does, they do respect and admire his strength. This carries a lot of weight with Muslims. I asked Iqbal about Pres. Clinton and he smiled and said something along the lines of "He wasn't the kind of man that Muslims would respect. He was the kind of man that Muslim politicians liked, though." and wouldn't go any further.
While I'm not the target of your question, I'd like to answer for my muslim friends who would probably say "Yes, and would you like a Slurpee." to your question.

I pretty sure they could be friends with Utah.

I'm pretty sure they couldn't be friends with Gobbieman.

I could easily be cordial with a muslim right up until the minute they start calling me a kuffar, sounding like Mel Gibson, and praising jihad for allah....then all bets are off.

As far as friends, quite honestly, no. Islam is a religion that is so hell bent on oppressing women that even before 9/11 I couldn't really grasp why anyone in the modern world would adhere to it. It's also a faith that doesn't believe in a seperation of church and state so it doesn't appear to be a "live and let live" religion like all the non-denominational new wave christianity you see popping up around here.

Quite frankly I really don't think I could embrace a devout muslim. Frankly on the world stage Muslims have been acting nuts. I know people will say that 9/11 was "extremists" blah blah blah and I agree. But what about all that freaking insanity over the cartoon? Why anyone would want to be associated with such craziness is beyond me. It's not something I can in anyway relate to, understand, or respect so friendship is out unless they can convince me that they really do not stand for any of the insanity that is currently associated with their religion and they show me that believe in respecting women.

Please note that the question asks about a truce.

This means the question refers to the Islamofascists that are at war wih us, not the far more common moderate muslim.

Its simple delusion to think that these people will ever be your 'friend'.

But if you look at many religions, they are oppressive and offensive in some way or another, and there are peopel that think that those are rules that should be enforced. Catholics, Mormons, Muslims, Baptists.

Westernized Muslims are generally very open and not oppressive. It all depends on how you look at it.

And I take "Truce" as meaning a stoppage of the war in Iraq. That way everybody could breath and we could think it out together. We could address the average Muslim.

Catholics are offended all the time but they don't go killing people out in the street over cartoons.

I understand that the people in the middle east and arab world are living under very different circumstances so it's almost impossible for me in the comfort of my home to understand them and how they live.

I do believe however they are indoctrinated at a very young age and part of that indoctrination is hatred of the west which makes me think I might have trouble making friends.

Furthermore yeah Catholics have oppressed women and in some ways still do. However women aren't expected to cover up from head to toe. Catholics have come along way in that regard while Muslims seem to have a long way to go.

Honestly I probably wouldn't be great friends with anyone who was extremely religious, outside of family which I love regardless, because I wouldn't have much in common with them.

But Islam and Muslim are phrases that make me crinkle my nose and feel disgusted.

I am talking about how it used to be in Catholicism. It used to be much harsher and less forgiving, and yes, they killed thousands and thousands of women in the Inquisition for Pagans/Wiccans/Herbalists/Mid-wifes/etc. There was oppression and Indoctrination running rampant. there still is in many ways, I dated a Catholic girl for a while and it was really disturbing.

Islam now? Not yet.
Westernized Muslims. Yes.
All Islam? In time maybe.

That way everybody could breath and we could think it out together. We could address the average Muslim.

I guess if you believe they will be happy with something less than the complete destruction of Israel and ultimately a global world kneeling to Allah it would be worth a shot.

In my opinion though most of their demands are ludicrous and unreasonable. I'm not about to compromise and allow them to destroy Israel and all the while be dumb enough to believe that they aren't working on all of Europe next.

I agree. Many of the demands are totally unreasonable.

Yes catholicism has a bloody past. But the average catholic doesn't seem as violent to me as the Muslims on TV, except of course Mel Gibson.

Personally I'm not into any religion. However if a large group of Catholics declared war on me I'm sure my nose would crinkle up in disgust at them as well.

I am not religious at all. And the average Catholic does not do that NOW. I am just saying that we need to give Islam time. Though that might not actually be possible.

Islam will adapt to the modern world or it will be annihilated. I believe they know that and it's why they fight against the modern world with such passion. Apparently they don't like change. But globalization has simply made the world to small to have these pockets of land where the people exist as backwards throwbacks to a bygone era.

It takes two sides to be friends and I believe the Islam Fanatics don't want to be our friends so I voted no....

As an athiest, I have serious doubts that they would extend the same respect to me that I could offer them.

I voted no.

I don't know. I think that the issue is more severe than the world is willing to admit, and that is already after the issue is already more severe than the world has ever seen.

I would like to have Utah's good thoughts, but I don't think, realistically, that we can be friends until Radical Islam is eradicated from the planet...FOREVER!! hAHAhahahaha

It depends on what you're talking about. Extremists Muslims and American Cowboy Presidents will shake hands long before the Democrats and Republicans become buddy-buddy.

lol, i don't know about that, but i do think that the US and most of the ME could become friends. the US needs to treat the ME better and the ME needs to try and prevent terrorist attacks.

did anyone read the first post?........:doh
