Could "north colorado" be america's 51'st state?

The need to come up with a better name like Coloraska or AskaColor.

Up to them but do not be surprised to see more of this. I am sort of surprised that most of VA has not asked to become part of WV, or that PA has not split in two or threes.

Colorado basically means colored red in Spanish, Nebraska means flat water to the Otos Indians, so simply name the new state Flatred (Flatoutred?), as that is likely their political leaning anyway. ;)

I don't think this will happen anytime soon.

If they want to free themselves from the liberals fleeing from Cali to Boulder I support them.

N.E. Colorado should think of allowing themselves to be annexed by the state of Wyoming. Liberals in Wyoming are looked upon being no better than cattle thieves.

Kinda like the movement that's floating around of having the state of Arizona annexing Southern California and appointing Joe Arpaio as the chief law enforcement officer of the entire state. Los Angeles County isn't included, they already have unofficially been annexed by Mexico.

Most conservatives and Republicans support this idea of counties being annexed by non liberal/socialist states to distance themselves from loony liberals in states like California and Colorado. It has more to do with ones wallet. Conservatives and Republicans wouldn't have to open their wallets to buy new American flags with 51 or 52 stars.

Most of Illinois would probably kill to be rid of Chicago.

Literally

There has already been so much talk of other areas in the country wanting to do this and look where they have gotten. The process is just to long and would probably lose intrest in lots of the people's eyes when they saw how long it would take to accomplish the task at hand.

Take I-80 west to Cheyenne and then I-25 south to Denver to avoid this cesspool run by "rogue" State Police, who WILL set you up on I-76. Then, take away their water rights to the Ogallala aquifer and divert the rivers and resorvoirs, especially from Sterling through Fort Morgan.

Speak for your own state, ripe with POTUSA voting fraud since at least 2000. "If we can't win elections at the ballot box, well need to resort to 2nd amendment remedies", by countless corrupt cons.

but with the current state of the congress in Washington D.C right now i don't think north Colorado would be recognized anytime soon.

"Nothing" will be done soon with the current state of Congress. With that, I could easily propose the "province" of MORMON, to include most of Idaho but the northern Aryan portion, Utah, the eastern half of Oregon, SE Washington, the northern portion of Nevada except Reno, much of northern California they lobbied with prop 8, western CO, western WY, SW Montana.

Back when California was doing the Central Valley Water Project there was a significant movement in the north to split the state in two. Sacto and below would be Southern California. But where the north had all the water, the south had all the political power.

Ohio is divided by North and South much like the USA of 1860. Only our Mason-Dixon Line follows roughly along I-80. Once you leave the Rust Belt up along the great lakes, the place turns Bible Belt in a hurry.

The 40th parallel goes right through Quincy, IL--a current hub of TEA thinkers and ancient home of the Whigs. Quincy is home to the 4th oldest VA home in the Nation, 205 acres called the "city within the city", where in the 1880's men from both sides of the civil war came of old age and need. They and Blessing hospital were there when we needed them for my Dad.

How about Washington DC be the 51st state? There's people there who don't enjoy the protections of living in a state that every other American enjoys.

Interesting was to word it, what are those protections?

Interesting was to word it, what are those protections?

The two biggest being self-governance (the DC council is authorized to do substantially less than a state government and must get approval by congress on every bill it passes) and representation in congress. The lack of ability to govern also leads to DC not being able to tax most of the work done there, which is why DC is perpetually broke.

yeah but imagine the headache's that come with creating a new state. they have to get the approval of both the voters and state legislature, submit their own state Constitution for approval by the congress, create a whole bunch of new laws. and then there has to be new senators and congressmen to represent the new state.

and apperently one of the whole reasons behind this movement is because of a bill that the govoner signed into law last june.

Hickenlooper signs bill to double rural renewable-energy requirement - The Denver Post

Over an electricity spat?

That's one of the most vain things I've ever heard of . . . out with the bathwater.

I'd rather Northern California become the 51st state. The dividing line should be just north of Sacramento. :)

Didn't Rush get his start in Sacramento? What "would" he say? Dad was stationed at Travis until 1964.

These 8 counties would constitute a population of 345,000 people, which is less than 60% of the current smallest state, Wyoming. It would be approximately the size of the Rockford, IL or Ocala, FL metropolitan areas. And we'd be giving them two senators.

Uh-oh......this leaves me in SoCal......with freaking Fresno!!
In addition we would lose Monterey and even SF.
No, we need a better, slightly more southerly line.
Fresno is pretty much the geographic center so...Fresno it is.
Heck, we'll even include Madera in the deal.
We get all the water and the South gets...well Hollywood, Bakersfield, Corcoran...everybody wins!!!

The panhandles of Texas and Oklahoma routinely grouse about breaking away to form a new state. Combined they are a huge amount of miles and miles but so few people I doubt they get two reps in the House.

Of course it always comes to nothing, just grandstanding and petty venting- not unlike that rep in Texas who wants to suspend federal education funds if schools continue with zero tolerance for 'guns'.

A whole bunch of hot air and local pandering.

this comes up every time a Presidential vote doesn't go the way some people want it to go.

And let me guess - they'd be solidly Republican, right? Idiots.

actually it i think the issue with the creation of north colorado was they did not want to be subjected to enviromental regulations that the govenor signed into law back in june.

I think it has more to do that Denver has unfortunately became part of Obama's America.

The urbanites expect those in the suburbs and rural areas to pay for all of the free stuff that those living in Obama's America demand.

Ive seen several states mentioned and its all because of one thing. The people in those areas dont feel that their interests are being looked after in favor of the metro areas. They dont feel their voices are being heard or respected.

It seems to me its always metro areas versus rural areas. Chicago and Illinois is a similar dynamic. I cant figure out why Chicago candidates keep getting elected, they always prove to be corrupt and in it primarily for Chicago.
