Well, as our local Govt's raise their fee's and fine's and our Federal Govt ignores the rule of law and passes disastrous laws like the ACA, I find that a single voice or a voice of even ten thousand isn't enough to get through to our politicians.

To refuse to pay tax will of-course get your butt into a considerable amount of hot water and a iniative like that would only work if MILLIONS agreed to go along with it.

Thus I thought of a new way to starve the bloated beurocracy and also a way to push a seccondary shaddow market into existence.( I know a shodow market is budding in America already )

They are prevalent in many third world nations and since we're heading there fast I say why the hell not ?

Have a day where basically millions refuse to shop, or a week, or a month.

They have a day with out a Mexican, so why not those with means, the producers of this society show the takers and the bloated corrupt Politicians where their power REALLY comes from.

Don't get me wrong, of course you would need the necessities, but anything above and beyond ? Put it off in protest of a ever increasing monstrocity of a Govt.

I think its a great idea. Libs of course would try to offset the output lost so it makes them poorer.

Unfortunately millions of your brothers and sisters work retail.

What are you referring to?

Could be this - the movie.

Oh well....

Either they lose their jobs, their 40 hour work weeks ( which is already happening ) through attrition caused by horrible Liberal Policies over the next coupke of years ot they lose them all at once.

Look, I'm not advocating the stoppage of consumerism, just a few days to make a point.

With out the revenues there is no massive snooping taxing law ignoring Govt.

Sure they can print but that won't last long

Americans give up something? All I want to know is what it is and where I can get some, because you are a level of screwed up that seems to be a lot of fun, and I am up for getting high.

I understand your point, but it's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. So many of those retail workers live paycheck to paycheck (they are not alone in that). So missing one or two days, missing a normal commission, can often mean the house of cards that is their lives comes tumbling down. The folks you want to get the message will be unaffected, the ones you want to give the message will likely be negatively affected.

Yea I know.

The way I see it it's all coming
down eventually as the middle class continues to shrink.

And its ironic to the point of being absurd that the people screaming about wealth inequality are actually the ones responsible for it.

Obama's a failure so they twist the message and blame the horrible economy on the rich.

The idiots truely run our Country now, as more and more idiots buy into their lies and false narratives.

It will take something like a " Day with out a Consumer" to shock thr system back into a reality.

Something of that nature is already slowly evolving in the retail markets. As more people begin to make less and less they're spending will dramatically decrease, especially on luxury items. TV's, electronics, cars, houses, appliances, furniture and many high ticket, elective items will decrease in cost, while necessities will continue to increase. Food, water, electricity, rent, medical care, fuel and used transportation will be the last places the corporate crooks can continue to rape the majority of the increasing poor class.

It's not that people are too lazy to work there's just no decent paying jobs being created.

No it is exactly that people aren't willing to work hard come down to south Texas oil plays you can get 40-50 k working as a mechanic now this requires requires hard work hot conditions and long hours. Despite that people are still un willing to do theses jobs. Now part of this is not their fault the education system brain washed by stupid campaigns like"work smart not hard" to try and avoid manual labor at all costs. Not to mention we subidize people to sit on ass all across this country through food stamps and welfare decreasing the motivation to work. We need a swift kick in the pants to rid outsells of not of these programs.

No oil jobs up north, and mechanics make an average of about 12 bucks an hour, with no overtime. The only manual labor that pays up here is union, and you gotta be a family member of somebody to get those jobs.

I have a house, with not enough equity to realistically sell, plus, explain the process by which I would get a job in Texas, or even Pennsylvania? They gonna hire me on the spot? Or am I gonna drive/fly out for an interview? You gonna foot that bill for me? And then what? I pay a mortgage AND rent, while trying to sell my house? And then there's my wife and kids to think about.
Seriously, explain to me the process by which a jobless, and therefor, cash strapped, person would go about to get a new job halfway across the country? And then what? Say, 100,000 of the millions who are unemployed or underemployed, do what you say, and chase oil jobs?

Fact is, you're talking out your asshole.

Not really I never said it was an easy process but the opportunity is out there you just need the intelligence and fortitude to take them. 1 If your under water there are many ways to get out of that none please my but there are ways. 2 it's called networking if you don't understand that I can't do anything for you. Most of these companies haves short interview process and will either fly you down or do a phone/Skype interview. As for kids you should not have children ycan not afford to support that's irresponsible. As for getting there our ancestors traveled across the country in covered wagons I'm sure you can figure something out.

Not under water. Fact is, if you are 3-4 years into an FHA house, it's VERY hard to sell, you darn near need to declare bankruptcy. And you are telling me an oil company looking to hire a low skill hard working day laborer is willing to fly me out there for an interview? I call BS. Skype and phone interviews are just fine, but I have yet to read or hear about a guy who landed a 50k a year job without ever meeting a person face to face, lol. And having kids is irresponsible? What do you know? Ever occur to you that before the decisions of about 100 unelected officials tanked our economy, I was perfectly able to afford children?

For the record, I have a job, and am doing just fine. I simply want you to actually think realistically about the claims you are making. You sound like a typical kid who's never had REAL hardship, before. No of fence, but I know you will take of fence. Sorry.

Isn't this thread just more proof that Republicans are out to destroy America.

Not the fisrt time sabotures have been seen on this forum......

.........If obama wins though I will go sign up for disability, food stamps and whatever the hell other programs I can qualify for. Why should I work when so many others are going to get a free ride. Why should I stubbornly cling to my values and work ethic if America decides it wants socialism. You guys wants socialism I will give it to you with both barrels and smile as I watch your country go down the tubes. I am curious what other people will do if he wins and I mean real people not socialist scum who will throw a party.

I never said these where low skill just manual labor in fact these jobs are intact highly specialized as they invoke equipment than can kill, maim or explode if not handled properly. They are simply looking for people with some mechanical knowledge they train . Also your right I've never had much hard ship but I've seen what my parents and grand parents did to get to where they are so im not completely naive. Ps. I'm never saying having kids is irresponsible I said having kids you can't afford to provide for is irresponsible. There is a big difference there. Also to the housing thing if you have no opportunity where you are but you can get opportunity else where why would you not do everything you could even bankruptcy to get out of there?

Bankruptcy means losing all the money you have already paid into your mortgage, losing your car(s), and anything else over 5k in value. Bankruptcy for the common man equals destitution. Not a good position from to "start over", which is what moving is.

Are these oil companies looking to hire people with specific skill sets?

Again, my point is, sometimes, many times, picking up and going to "where the work is" just isn't a viable option. And besides that point, there really AREN'T a lot of decent or good paying jobs, period. If thee were, we wouldn't be in a recession.

It is perfered but not required they just want good people willing to work hard and learn. Also would you rather hold on to all those assets and slowly rot like they are doing in Detroit or would you rather scrap everything and try to start over? I'm not saying that these are your best options but isn't it better than doing nothing?

In some situations, scrapping everything is the best move. That's why we have bankruptcy laws in the first place. But not really an option for most of the millions of unemployed and underemployed, and if it where, it would mean economic disaster.

It's not that people are too lazy to work there's just no decent paying jobs being created.

It's not a corporations duty to create high paying jobs, it is up to the individual to increase his marketable skills and education so he can rise out of a low paying position.

Two of my cousins, both girls and both hyper intelligent got degrees in the petro-chemistry.

One stayed in Texas the other moved to Australia. STARTING pay for both is well over a Hundred thousand.

The lack of additional good paying jobs has little to do with Corporations and more to do with policies that inhibit their growth.

Its the hitch in the Liberals plan. They tax them selves into failure and out of office Hen people start to realize they were lied to.

A one day strike would have zero effect. People would buy whatever they wanted the day before or the day after. That's the problem with all those calls in the past to boycott gas pumps for the day.

One day? businesses won't notice it.

Do it for a month? thanks for crashing the economy, bud. But anyway, won't work. People can't go a month without shopping. How many people buy beyond "necessities" anyway?
