Other than the right to say anything, and the right to bear arms, 90 percent will go through life without needing the remaining rights their entitled to.

The ten percent who do need them are mostly those who take chances, get into trouble, live on the edge, break laws, usually ending up in jail.

Then they will need the protection of the sixth (right to a speedy trial), seventh (right to a trial by jury), eight (protection from cruel and unusual punishment)

I enjoy my right to vote. I'm sure black people enjoy their right not to be considered 3/5 of a person, in addition to being able to vote. Granted, these aren't part of the 10 amendments in the Bill of Rights, but they darn well should have been. It's a shame they didn't come around until almost a century later (or longer).

What's the purpose of this thread?

Rick, you are very fortunate to live in a country where your rights are so protected each and every single day, you don't even recognize it. The next time you drive to work and manage to get there without being stopped by a cop for no other reason than to check and see if you have a driver's license, remember that you got through the day without having to even notice how well your rights are being protected.

If you have incurred debt, you enjoy the 13th amendment's protection against debt slavery. You know how your APR skyrockets if you miss a payment on your <enter loan here>? Replace that clause with "You are interred in a work camp for the rest of your life to pay off a debt that now accrues interest faster than you will ever be able to pay it," and you have what things could be like without the 13th amendment.

Additionally, we regularly benefit from the 9th and 10th amendments, which keep various levels of government from becoming involved in many different issues in our everyday lives even if those levels of government would want to.
