Please answer, no return volleys necessary. Just answer honestly, and maybe even address the relationship.

This poll based on this post:

Maybe I'm missing something, but what exactly is the attraction of this thing? It's going to be a bunch of self-satisfied yuppies sniffing their own farts and congratulating themselves on being smarter than everyone else.

Most of my relatives are liberals. I hate family reunions because I have to sit and listen to them spew retarded crap about how the govt should be doing more to take care of people, help the poor, blah, blah, blah.

Half of my wife's family is liberal; several of them are HS teachers and college professors. On some issues I have been accused of being liberal- thats much harder to deal with than being married to one.

Adopt a liberal today!

Most of the people on my mother's side of the family are far-left, it doesn't make me love them any less.

But, um... how does the quote in the OP have anything to do with the poll?

Wait, if we can adopt a liberal, it means we can adopt a conservative too.

Dav, I choose you!

Because he paints everybody that is liberal/would be attending the rally Stuart/Colbert are having as being ... all that he said up there.

Tucker said it was a South Park reference, but Right said nothing to indicate he was not serious.

Yes and yes.
Because I love them, I do what I can to turn them from the dark side.

Just about all of my family on both sides is conservative, but my best friend is a moderate liberal, so yes, I am acquainted with at least one, but he's slowly drifting more and more conservative.

Smug Alert!

And Rights comments are not about all liberals. Its about people who are likely to take time off work, or its the Daily school so lets be serious take off time from college, to travel to a comedic fake rally put on by a comedic fake news show because they're so much better and smarter than those silly tea partiers and going there shows they're obviously intelligent and cool. Its likely hyperbole and over exaggeration, with a purpose, and the smelling their own farts thing definitely seems an allusion to the South Park episodes depiction of the "progressive" San Francisconians (franciscons? franciscoites?)

I know and love several liberals.

I find them harder and harder to find, though, because so many who call themselves liberal aren't liberals at all as far as political philosophy is involved.

That still has nothing to do with loving/not loving someone. One can still love someone who will on occassion engage in self-satisfied, self-congratulatory behavior. We all have our faults.

No, the loving bit is more about me being curious - and knowing you can't play "people in a box" with someone you love. Or at least I can't.

Because they then become individuals, and not "them".

A number of relatives are liberals, including my grandmother on my moms side. My best friend is probably best described as a moderately conservative democrat. My fiances dad is pretty much a hippy.

Richard Jeni on all of us:

Well I don't feel that it is currently appropriate for me to answer the poll but I know* it is quite possible to like/love another with a different political lean. What happens is that you know that certain topics cause particular reactions that are predictable and so the prescription is to talk about all else. This isn’t so bad, unless the parties in question are obsessed with their political lean. Intellectuals can find a way around it but on the plus side it can be viewed that some debate is stimulating and not negative necessarily.

One of my best friends STILL thinks Obama is doing a great job. I just don't talk politics with her. Problem solved. :2razz:

That's why I come here, so I can argue with people I don't like. :argue:

Please show me what part of my statement indicates anything about all liberals? You might want to read a bit more carefully in the future, as this is the second time you've misconstrued something I said and started a thread on it.

And as to the question in your OP, probably 70% of my friends and most of the people I love are liberals, many of whom are far more liberal than the average person who calls himself a liberal on this site.

Tucker said it was a South Park reference, but Right said nothing to indicate he was not serious.

I also said nothing to indicate that I was referring to all liberals, but you didn't pick up on that either.

That's got to suck, Even my liberal friend thinks Obama has screwed up royally and the Democrats are ruining this country. He just hates the ultra-religious-right Republicans much, much more.

When they said love, I thought romantically. So, then no I don't love any liberals. But most people I know are ranging from progressives to moderates. But that is becaue the political spectrum is further to the left here in New Zealand than the US. Compared to US politics I would be a moderate, New Zealanders normally range from progressives to slightly conservative. In Norway where my family is people normally range from socialists to liberals. So I know a lot of liberals, and my family is quite left wing. I don't really mind liberals becaue they want sensible regulations, but I don't like progressives that much.

I couldn't love my friends if they weren't liberals, so it's a good thing that they are.

Yeah.

I guess you won't be hooking up with Patria any time soon.

I think there's a far more obvious reason why I won't be hooking up with him. Look at his self-identification.
