...because you're missing the point!
Elizabeth May may be female, but she's the leader of a FRINGE party.....and she's white!
Jagmeet Singh may be a visible minority, but he's the leader of a SOCIALIST Party..........and he's male!
Do you see what you're overlooking? They're no comparison with Lewis!
WHY?
LEWIS is female, and a visible minority........AND, she will represent the traditional opposition to the Liberals - the CONSERVATIVE Party!
LEWIS IS THE ONE!
I understand your point, but do not believe it will be as big a factor as you suggest
You expect people who feel social activism is important will vote conservative, for a social conservative. Just because she is a woman and a minority. While ignoring her social conservative beliefs.
Lewis will be asked in the conservative debates about her social conservative beliefs and whether or not the should guide her government. She will be asked those questions by the media. If she answers that she will not change abortion laws, or gay marriage laws if she is PM she will lose the social conservative vote to become leader of the Con party. If she says yes she would, she loses out on the social activist vote that just might have voted for her in the general election.
A social conservative who try’s to use social activism as the main reason to vote for them is a losing proposition. As it.
If she was centrist, she could very well win, as a social conservative barring some unforeseen event that dramatically changes Canadai don’t see her getting the Con party nomination to begin with let alone elected to become PM
