Big $$$$$$$ is often a threat to the freedom of others.

You seem exercised about something. Is it worth anyone trying to guess what it is?

Maybe that ALEC nickname will eventually get legs as a talking point. Seems you are trying hard, don't give it up.

I don't know about your 'we' in the thread title, but this guy doesn't buy it.

For the same reasons most people 'buy' assertions absent hard evidence.
1. they never learned how to distinguish which evidence is hard and which is soft. They lack the education needed.
2. they are basically lazy and simply don't want to do that kind of in-debt research on sources, links, etc and do not want to spend the mental energy to critically analyze what they are seeing or hearing.
3. They suspect the sources etc are flawed, and don't care as long as it pushes a narrative that they are comfortable with, and validates their preferred bias.

Its a very easy habit to fall into, and frankly a lot of us do the same thing at least occasionally. It's all those times when we read an assertion or a story and do the mental equivalent of 'Sounds about right' or 'makes sense to me' and then just move on. It happens when we are not we are super-engaged on a specific topic. That's a lot of parsing, digging and critical thinking that we reserve for specific occasions and topic.

+1 for longest thread title...
-3 for questioning, but containing no supportive evidence of its own allegations.
-1 for the sheer irony in it all.

Because to some people “owning“ the opposition is all that matters…

Not a political discussion thread.

Simply a trolling baiting thread.

Where is your evidence to back up the claim you've made ?

Let's see it.

Love your second point. I've seen this before....and it's always the same thing.

This thread should be moved to the butthurt forum.

Each family is closely tied to the Republican leader of one branch of government: Robert, Diana, and Rebekah Mercer helped propel Trump’s bombastic rise to the White House. Industrialist brothers Charles and David Koch funded the Tea Party and its protege, House speaker Paul Ryan. And while casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam Ochshorn are on the party’s more moderate wing, they have long stood behind the calculating, conservative Senate leader, McConnell, who even before the Tea Party’s rise was known as an extreme obstructionist (paywall), dedicated to stomping out the bipartisan compromises that historically made the US government work.

We're all impressed with your ability to copy and paste internet links.

Maybe someday you can regale us with your ability to articulate the point behind them - or is that the challenge here, to try to figure it out for ourselves?

For example.......

Ever read those fact-checks?
There's one characteristic you can spot in most.
When they're not counting the same thing more than once, Kessler and others like Bump and Blake over on WAPO mischaracterize what they want to check in order to call it false.
Sure, it's not very clever but it's clever enough to fool the dim-witted.
