Geez how can I forget morality!Kinda hard to be spouting off about "family values" when you back a serial cheater with five kids from three different mothers. If that had been Kamala Harris with three different baby daddies we all know she would have been dragged, and dragged again, for that.
You missed 'socialism'. Yanno - the government directly taking a stake in a company ownership.Last 7 months, let alone the last decade, have been super revealing to me as someone who has argued with conservatives for decades now.
-Small government - literally every GOP solution to any problem over the last decade has been to shove more government interference and state agents into our lives.
-Law and order - when you elect a convicted felon who has engaged in sex trafficking of children, you kinda lose the argument on LAW AND ORDER.
-Any concern expressed about child sex trafficking - see above.
-D.C. sending troops into states - I remember when conservatives would swear up and down this dem potus or that was planning on sending troops into red states to suppress....something.
-"We need 2A to protect us against government overreach" - as we see, the gun folks are the most vocal in supporting the illegal occupation by the federal government of American cities.
-American Constitution - this one is obvious and easy. The same group that has insisted 2A is sacred because the Constitution says so now insist the constitution should say whatever a president insists it says. Their own reps in congress have ceded all of their authority to the executive without so much as a fight. Online conservatives who used to argue over the constitutionality of items now insist that a sitting president can create new laws with EO's.
-Anti-war - Trump has done nothing but saber rattle and create conflict virtually all over the world, whether directly like the failed attack on Iran or indirectly in his support of Israel's genocide. Trump has been a bad actor in the Ukraine war, constantly working to create a victory for Russia. Which brings us to...
-Russia Russia Russia! - I am certainly old enough to remember when Republicans believed Russia was an enemy and didn't want to throw all of our allies under the bus to satisfy a Russian dictator.
Honestly, I kinda feel for any old school conservatives watching all this. I don't know what maga's core beliefs are, to be honest. They seem to only respond to anti white sentiment and policies designed to literally harm other Americans they've decided they don't like, which is all Americans who don't live in their specific neighborhoods.
All of whom he cheated on. Adultery is one of the Commandments MAGA wants posted in schools, but it doesn't apply to Trump.Kinda hard to be spouting off about "family values" when you back a serial cheater with five kids from three different mothers.
They would have used her as proof of the immorality of all brown people. Hypocrisy, thy name is MAGA.If that had been Kamala Harris with three different baby daddies we all know she would have been dragged, and dragged again, for that.
Change your verbiage to GOP and not conservative....and some of what you say might be trueLast 7 months, let alone the last decade, have been super revealing to me as someone who has argued with conservatives for decades now.

Fair. The current spending spree and tax hikes are far from conservative.Change your verbiage to GOP and not conservative....and some of what you say might be true
But Trump isnt a conservative
The GOP party of today isnt conservative at all
It is a bastardized version of what used to be the GOP i have been in for 40+ years
Just like the democratic party has changed drastically over the same time
I get what you're saying but it's semantics at this point. The dominant representation of conservatism in this country is maga. There are no conservative voices that even have a perch in the GOP, they were all driven out.Change your verbiage to GOP and not conservative....and some of what you say might be true

I don't agree with this even a little bit. This is a politco column that's from the same genre of "What if Trupm is right??" bullshit that the media pulls out when his polling on anything is in the gutter. NO one is defending crime. The problem is: Trump is winning on the law and order thing.
He has Democrats cornered in a position which is seen as defending crime.
Voters are stupid. Nobody likes crime. They see Trump and Republicans as tough on crime and Democrats as soft on crime. That's the bottom line.
Trump is winning. Democrats need to wise up fast and jump the shark. Despite the facts of low crime, Democrats need to come off as wanting to crack down on crime. Democrats need to propose federal funding for local police and add additional guidelines for protecting the public from over zealous police.
That's how Bill Clinton won. Voters are stupid. It worked.
The problem with Democrats is they continue to pretend voters are smart. Big mistake.
So call it the GOPI get what you're saying but it's semantics at this point. The dominant representation of conservatism in this country is maga. There are no conservative voices that even have a perch in the GOP, they were all driven out.
Functionally there isn't. And it was conservatives who paved the road for all of this. This is the diminished return of decades of Willie Horton style politics. So call it the GOP
Not conservatives
There is a HUGE difference
I agree but it's funny how some people still label themselves "conservative" and support this current administration. So call it the GOP
Not conservatives
There is a HUGE difference
You make a fair point. If I could get a serious answer I'd love to ask the maga on the board if they sincerely believe Trump wants to combat crime in blue cities. If that's legitimately the agenda. Odds are good to a man and woman, they'd all disingenuously assert that yes, it's what they all want. 30% of this country are bad actors with no good intentions towards the other 70%.Hold on... did anyone think they were serious about any of that in the last thirty or even forty years?
No, we are not defending crime at all. But that doesn't matter if voters think we are. We have to get control of this or it's going to work well for Trump.I don't agree with this even a little bit. This is a politco column that's from the same genre of "What if Trupm is right??" bullshit that the media pulls out when his polling on anything is in the gutter. NO one is defending crime.
Oh, let's add masculinity to the list. I mean...Trump wears more makeup that any drag queen, and JD Vance is one of the more....softer VP's we've ever had.
@Peacenik show me the polling showing Americans overwhelmingly support military in cities to combat crime. I'd like to see the data you're seeing.
Great. Now answer *my* question."A YouGov poll last week found that 89 percent of Americans think crime in U.S. cities is a problem. The poll also showed that more than half of Americans think crime in U.S. cities has increased since 2020. "
Democrats face challenge in countering Trump on crime
The voters don't think we are. You're just regurgitating maga talking points that also have no evidence of reality. No, we are not defending crime at all. But that doesn't matter if voters think we are. We have to get control of this or it's going to work well for Trump.
You asked no question. You demanded something. I gave it to you. Now you're beginning to become annoying.Great. Now answer *my* question.
Bullshit! By claiming crime is down, which is absolutely is, we come off as defending the status quo. Come off as "soft on crime." The problem is people don't have the facts. As long as they think crime in big cities is a problem, Trump's got us on our heels. The voters don't think we are. You're just regurgitating maga talking points that also have no evidence of reality.
