Colorado police have released videos showing a train hitting a police cruiser in which a detained suspect was handcuffed.

The Fort Lupton Police Department released body camera and dashcam video on Friday showing Yareni Rios-Gonzalez inside the patrol car that was hit by a train. Rios-Gonzalez is hospitalized with multiple injuries but is expected to survive, the Colorado Bureau of Investigations said.

The newly released video of the September 16 incident shows Rios-Gonzalez – a suspect in a road rage case – asking why she was pulled over as she is handcuffed and put into a cruiser that was parked on railroad tracks, yards behind her truck.

Rios-Gonzalez is left in the vehicle alone as officers search her truck. Minutes later, a train horn is heard and officers express alarm as the train barrels into the cruiser, crumpling the side and pushing it dozens of feet into a field. Officers can be heard on the video calling for medical assistance.

Paul Wilkinson, an attorney for Rios-Gonzalez, told CNN Saturday that she was desperate to get out of the vehicle as the train approached.

“When she was in the back of the car, she was able to see the train coming,” Wilkinson said. “She was frantically trying to escape, trying to open the doors, but she was handcuffed.”

On what planet does anyone park a car on railroad tracks?

I hope she's ok and she'll have an amazing civil suit against the dept.

Driving 101 - do not park/stop on train tracks.
Idiots

A stupid one.

The planet of Colorado. Apparently they are on a planet all their own

Well, she's now a millionaire.

Any judgment will be paid for by the taxpayers, not the cops.
That's the sad part. Also, cops who are fired for brutality or stupidity like this frequently get rehired in other jurisdictions. Very sad.

Odds are there will be an amazing settlement for her, but the officer should lose their job. Once she was secure in handcuffs in the back of a patrol car the most prudent thing to do is secure the scene, including moving cars parked on a railroad crossing. There was no reason to leave the car there, other than yet again officers showing what little regard they have for just about everyone else.

Geezus. I mean - GEEZUS. How horrific. And stupid. STUPID.

She is going to be a mighty rich woman.

It’s situations like this that confirm my belief that lawsuits for police negligence or misconduct should be paid by police pension funds.

People are ok with this; we are required by law to put our trust and lives in their hands - we have no choice.

Put yourself in this womans place. She had no idea why they stopped her, got her out of the vehicle using felony stop tactics and when she was in the back of the patrol vehicle she saw the train coming and while yelling and screaming for somebody to open the door, nobody did anything.

She tried to get the door open with her hands which were handcuffed, and remember she has no idea why this was happening.

After the train hit the patrol car the officers were still in her vehicle trying to find a gun and joking around.

It was disgusting all around and I hope she recovers from her sever spinal injuries.

Did you know she was a TSA agent so she thought she was on the correct side of the law at all times?
