Colorado Court Rules Use of Public Funds for Private Schools Is Unconstitutional

You can put your kids into any private school you want. Plus CO has open enrollment, meaning that you don't have to live "in district" to have your kid attend a particular public school.

Why should even more of my $$ go to other people's kids? I dont have kids.

If you want the benefits of private school, pay for it.

They pay for the other kid's schooling already....

Everyone does. It's called public education. Public funds go to the public school system, not the private system. You want private, you pay for it. It's that simple.

Can someone explain to me exactly why liberals oppose private schools getting funding? The government can control private schools without any trouble already and with public funding liberals have just another way to justify that control. What am I missing here?

The state should just give a tax cut to parents who don't put their kids in public schools. Rather than state money going to private schools they should just give a refund or tax break to families not using up the resource of public education. Same goes for single people with no kids. Remove any kind of tax cut or break married couples get to offset the funding losses. The way it is now we pay too much for other people's kids and marriages.

Private always pays for public. Duh.

Not the other way around. The individual and our taxes fund a public system. The private system exists unto itself.

Many private schools pay taxes that of course go to pay for the public system.

Likely, I don't know for sure. But it doesn't change anything I've said.

No it doesn't, but it's weird paying for your competitors existence.

Perhaps. But that's why we have public options and private options.
