Colorado company to give away ammunition magazines ahead of ban | Fox News

With just days to go before Colorado's strict new gun control law is set to take effect, gun accessories manufacturer Magpul says it plans to distribute 1,500 30-round magazines to gun owners for free.
The company, which has vowed to leave the state over the law, will take part in what organizers are calling a "Farewell to Arms Festival," on Saturday in Glendale, KDVR.com reports.
Magpul plans to give away magazines to the first 1,500 attendees and participants will also be able to buy up to three magazines for $10 each, according to the report.
Glendale Deputy City Manager Chuck Line told the station the event will be the "last opportunity" for residents to obtain standard capacity magazines for the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.

In March, Gov. John Hickenlooper signed bills that would require background checks for private and online gun sales and ban ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds.
The magazines distributed at the event will be "grandfathered" in under the new law, event organizer Kelly Mahrer told KDVR.com.

Wait they didn't put a limit on how old something had to be to be grandfathered in? You can go out and buy something the day before and it can be grandfathered in?

you cannot. in the USA during the clintoon ban, stuff imported into the USA made after the ban or made in the USA after the ban had "For lawe enforcement use only" which of course is a clear violation of the second amendment. But the billions of mags made in europe prior to the ban or made for countries other than the USA did not and unless you were caught actually bringing them in there was no way the law could be enforced

here is even a funnier thing--GLOCK (especially) went to Police departments and offered them three brand new post ban magazines for two old ones which could still be sold to other civilians who weren't cops. reason-the cost of the new magazines to GLOCK was about 10 bucks a piece while thePRE BAN ones could be sold for 50 or 60 bucks after the clinton idiocy. again, another case of Democrats screwing poor people over

some real assholes wanted to confiscate old mags-of course that would have led to those doing the confiscating often getting shot along with lots of people who never violated any real laws and perhaps more than a few of the scumbags who wanted such idiocy

I wonder if you can buy repair parts like they can in California? We can buy all the repair parts here, and assemble them if we want too - completely legal.

Depends on the part. Some parts like bolts do have as traceable serial number.

I did not think CA had anything grandfathered in?

Correct I don't think our "ban" on hi caps includes any dates.

Awww, another anti-gun law that turned out to be a joke. :(

Not only that but Colorado residents can buy gen 1,2, & 3 PMAGS out of state, return with them to the state and no one will ever know they aren't legal because they have been "grandfathered." If and when Magpul designs and produces generation 4 or later standard capacity AR15 mags, then those would be easier to discern as to their legality in the state.

Those who attempt to infringe upon the 2nd Amendment have three goals in mind. One is to pacify low information voters with laws that make them "feel" better even though they have no effect on preventing crime. The second is either outward confiscation, or laws that lead to confiscation.
The third is a relatively new concept, which is to tax firearms and/or ammunition to the point of citizens not being able to afford a firearm or ammunition.

Here the individual parts of a prohibited gun are illegal and the ones for restricted weapons are restricted unless you have a collector's permit.
