Prediction:

Nebraska will win the national title.

Caveat:

same prediction I make every year and I haven't been right in a couple of decades, but I am thinking positive.

UCF ranked #33 will be the team to watch for me this year. With the Knights set to join a Power 5 conference next season going to the Big 12 only helps the Knights raise their stature. Malzahn plucked John Rhys Plumlee from the transfer portal. It’s no secret that Malzahn’s hurry-up, no-huddle offenses performed their best when a legitimate dual threat was running the show at quarterback. His most prolific offense at Auburn in 2010 — when he was offensive coordinator — averaged 41.2 points per game. Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton was the catalyst. Newton could throw it. He also ran for 1,473 yards and 20 touchdowns on 264 carries, driving opponents crazy with the read option.

That’s why bringing over former Ole Miss quarterback John Rhys Plumlee in the transfer portal could be the key to unlocking an elite offense at UCF in 2022.
“He was like a video game in the SEC his true freshman year,” Malzahn said of Plumlee, whom he tried to recruit to Auburn. “Very excited that we have him.”

Plumlee was named to the true freshman all american NCAA team.
Plumlee, who earned all-purpose honors, finished his freshman campaign with 1,023 rushing yards, a single-season Ole Miss record by a freshman and the fifth-most by any SEC quarterback. Plumlee, who took over the starting quarterback role in Week 5, currently leads the SEC and ranks 11th in the NCAA with 113.7 rushing yards per game.

The Hattiesburg, Mississippi, ranks second in the conference in rushing touchdowns (12). Plumlee finished the 2019 season with the school freshman rushing touchdown record (12), as well as his freshman overall TD record (16).

Something tells me that Texas A&M and Notre Dame are overrated, and Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State are not.

They will need a new head coach first.

I like Scott Frost. I think he's a good head coach. He just may not be the right coach for Nebraska.

It seems pretty obvious so far he is not the right coach for Nebraska. He will probably be gone after this year.

But who is? Seriously, what 247sports 4 or 5 start recruit dreams of playing in the middle of ****ing nowhere if you're not playing for coach Bowden, coach Osborne, coach Paterno, coach Saban, or coach Smart?

Nebraska has a history of good quality football program. It has fallen on hard times after Osborn. I believe Nebraska can find a good coach for their program.

Keep the faith. Listen if Nebraska had someone like Phil Knight (Nike Guy), this would be a different conversation.

Nebraska does not need anyone like Phil Knight to have a good coach and program. I remember Nebraska when they were in the big eight. Nebraska has a lot of very good football players in the state of Nebraska that would stay home to play for a good coach.

Nebraska does not have anywhere near the indigenous talent that is required to compete. I respect Nebraska and all, but they've got nothing compared to Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Nebraska has as good a talent as them but not as many so they would need outside state recruitments.

A lot of 'out of staters' on Alabama too. Just the way it is.
