College Football 2020

I think even if they do attempt to play there will be some star players opting out. If you're a potential first rounder next year why would you play?

Visibility before the draft?

12 Sooners test positive.

This applies more to those who would benefit from getting some play on tape. More of the marginal players or those who might hope to move up in rounds. First rounders have the C19 excuse for not playing and shouldn't be affected as far as their draft position. I'm talking more of the elite prospects who have shown what they can do.

But there can be change between one season and another (for example, injury recovery), and I think this is especially true of college football and the maturing of just about everything between 18 and 22.

The Big 10 has cancelled all fall sports including football.

I read somewhere (probably ESPN) the Big Ten is talking about spring football. However, I have not checked for recent updates.

It’s not, “sources” say they will announce tomorrow. So we will have to wait and see.

Nebraska has said they wish to play even if the Big 10 doesn’t.

The Cornhuskers obviously can't do it because all non-conference games are canceled. They can't suddenly return to the Big 12 tomorrow.

The NCAA has been talking about this. NFL draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said he is concerned some players will play just long enough to put on some game tape for all scouts, then quit midseason to prevent injuries if their schools do play from September to January. Another NFL draft analyst explained deciding to opt out of the 2020 season could cause problems for scouts because their most recent game tape is more than a year old. Only a player like Nick Bosa, who everyone knew would be a top five pick during his sophomore season, could afford to do it without losing his draft stock.

For a year they could. Notre Dame joined the ACC for this year

Nebraska is still a big draw school. The Big Ten needs Nebraska more than Nebraska needs the Big Ten

Not at all. Nebraska sought refuge in the Big Ten, fleeing Texas domination in the Big 12. And no, Nebraska is not a big draw for most Big Ten schools. Nor is the Nebraska TV area important for Big Ten recruiting. Finally, the Big Ten is by far the most lucrative conference.

The Big Ten would throw them out.

The Big Ten invited Notre Dame to be its 12th team. Nebraska was only asked to switch conferences because of Notre Dame's stupid refusal to join any of them in football.

Notre Dame and the Big Ten have "issues" going back decades.

The only reason Notre Dame provided for rejecting its invitation was insisting its football team always be independent. If there were any other issues, why would the Big Ten reach out to Notre Dame in the first place?

SEC passed the Big Ten in 2018

And Nebraska is still a top 10-15 program in revenue, along with historical importance would be a gem for any conference to have

Because the money makes enormous sense. But there's plenty of bad blood in the past.

Nope. Big Ten has too many major markets.

Assuming you are talking about Philadelphia, Detroit, and Chicago instead of the actual addresses for some Big Ten colleges, yes, there is a big market. But Lincoln, Nebraska is definitely not any more attractive to incoming players than South Bend, Indiana.

New York, Baltimore, Washington, Minneapolis, Cleveland, etc., etc.
