Cold War-Era Arctic Defense System to Get Upgrade to Counter Muscovite empire

"

TORONTO—The U.S. and Canada plan to modernize a network of defense satellites and radar in the Arctic, in a bid to counter a growing military presence in the north from Russia and China.

President Biden asked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to ramp up Canada’s spending on defense, including an upgrade of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, commonly known as Norad, during a bilateral meeting between the two leaders on Tuesday, according to an official familiar with the discussions.

"

Great News! we have to drug in the Moscow´s Chingizid empire into high tech arm race again, bringing upon the barbarians the new 1991 . Canada has lager GDP than Muscovy and with USA/NATO help ..0 chance for Putin

Why do you dishonestly edit the titles?

Where is Muscovite Empire on a modern map?

And "Moscow´s Chingizid empire" is a stupid way to describe RUSSIA.

Tass stated it is a weather satellite but you can't believe anything from the Kremlin.

Its twin is supposed to follow soon.
its good, we will see for how long this Moscow´s 1% of the world GDP empire can stay in the Cold War N2

There is no "Muscovy". It is stupid to keep referring to RUSSIA as "Muscovy".

How many years have you predicted RUSSIA'S downfall?

Some in Canada think they are safe because they only have one neighbor and that neighbor is America. Truth is they have Russia as a neighbor too. There's plenty of natural resources like oil to fight over.

Good thing Canada's upgrading the radars with USA. Cause this could get heated.

First thing is that a Canadian gal I knew told me Santa Claus lives in Canada.

And that he likes to summer in Finland.

But that Russia has coveted hosting Ol' Saint Nick for centuries.

So this could get messy.

Anyone in Finland know anything about this?

Both Santa Claus and Canada owe Finland a big one they do. If Santa does summer in Finland as I had heard he does then we know why on that one too.

On November 30, 1939 the Soviet Red Army launched an invasion of Finland with half a million troops.

3141-sotil-jpg.jpg

In the Winter War Finland stood alone; other countries offered only sympathy and modest assistance. Finnish ski troops inflicted heavy casualties on the Russian army. Finland’s survival against overwhelming Russian forces became legendary all over the world.

Though vastly outnumbered and outgunned in what became known as the “Winter War,” the Finns had the advantage of fighting on home turf. Led by Marshal Carl Gustaf Mannerheim, they hunkered down behind a network of trenches, concrete bunkers and field fortifications and beat back repeated Soviet tank assaults. Finnish ski troops guerilla tactics were aided by the freezing Finnish winter, which bogged the Soviets down and made their soldiers easy to spot against snowy terrain. One Finnish sniper, a farmer named Simo Häyhä, was eventually credited with over 500 kills.

During just three months of fighting, Red Army forces suffered over 300,000 casualties compared to around 65,000 for the Finns. The Winter War may have also carried important consequences for World War II. Among other things, the Red Army’s performance is often cited as a key factor in Adolf Hitler’s mistaken belief that his June 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union would be a success.

What was the Winter War? - HISTORY

Two lessons at a minimum. For Russia, don't invade Finland. For Germany and the world, don't invade Russia. Yet when one reads the Russian military literature (in translation) the focus is on the next invader being China -- not the US. And not NATO.

And the result is Finland lost territory to the USSR...

Then joined Germany in the abortive invasion into Russia helping participate in the genocidal siege of Leningrad...

And they lost again when the Soviets kicked their asses back to Finland..

one for sure, Finland fought ussr and international Marxism like a Wolverine, giving to us , Free world the most significant in 20c the last man stand .... It won, ussr and maxism lost , and yes, Karelia is Finland
when the Soviets first invaded, one Finnish soldier said "There are so many of them, and our country is so small. How will we bury them all?"

"

Russian aggression is the greatest challenge facing Canada and Western democracies right now as the Kremlin tries to dismantle the rules-based international order that’s existed since the end of the Second World War, military experts are warning.

And as a result, some say Canada and its allies should consider themselves already at war with Russia.

“This is not an interwar period. The war is on,” said Frederick Kagan, resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and an expert on critical threats.

“The principal challenge is our own failure to recognize we are involved in a great-scale conflict with Russia.”

Kagan and others spoke on a Wednesday panel discussion organized by the CDA Institute for its annual Ottawa Conference on Security and Defence.

And they lost... Twice. To the USSR.

The bottom line is that Russia as the USSR failed to incorporate Finland into its evil empire. This was in spite of Russia invading Finland with half a million troops in November 1939 in the Winter War.

Finland remained the sovereign independent nation state it continues to be. So it's only after the fact is presented, recognized and respected, that another can pick and choose reactively to the substantive content any given poster has the individual resources to initiate.

Stalin certainly could have annexed Finland in 1944 had he wanted to.

The fact that he didn’t shows that there wasn’t an intention in “adding Finland to the evil empire”.

Hell, he didn’t even bother setting up a puppet state in 1944

Russia lost the Winter War to Finland in only 3 months beginning Nov. 30, 1939. Russia lost as casualties 3/5ths of its 500,000 man invading Army.

The victorious Fins gave Russia some islands and area around St. Petersburg that was insignificant to Finland but that was deemed important by Russia, fools that the Russians are and always have been and will be.

It is standard in history that a country trades off some territory insignificant to it in return for peace. Finland doing this against the much bigger and more powerful Russia was smart stuff on its part.

The fact remained Russia was at that point not in a position to press on with their disastrous war effort. In other words, Finland made Russia an offer it could not refuse. If you are so compelled as to carry on beyond this you might consider starting a thread on it that no one will care about anyway because it is both distant from this topic about the Arctic and obscure besides.

The Fins needed to weaken its historical neighbor Russia while Germany expended its own already limited resources.

Finland weakened their neighbor so much the USSR smashed their bags and took more land, made Finland pay reparations and legalize the Finnish Communist party and kick the Germans out of Finland. ..

After D-Day in June 1944 Stalin focused on Berlin and getting to Berlin before the allies did. Red Army taking all or enough of Finland became a prohibitive diversion of resources in every respect.

In September 1944 Finland signed an armistice with the USSR and with Britain, ie, it would fight neither.

The Red Navy got the free passage out of the Gulf of Finland that enabled the Red Army to attack the German flank in the north which the Allies to include Russia of course thought was a great idea, which it was. Washington which had not declared war on Finland encouraged Stalin to focus his resources on getting to Berlin.

Moreover during the summer fierce Finnish resistance against the Red Army had produced successes such as in the Battle of Tali-Ihantala that made the Kremlin as a whole wonder whether it was worth leading a further advance into Finnish territory. It was a Winter War redux for the Soviet Russians.

The result was that Finland maintained its sovereign independence.

If Stalin had really wanted to turn the Finns into a puppet there’s nothing the Finns could have done to stop him. The Finns were out of resources, and the Germans had no ability to help them, particularly after Bagration. Stalin‘s goals towards Finland changed after the Winter War.....and the Continuation War saw him get everything he wanted from them

”He also wrote that Stalin had described territorial concessions, reparations and military bases as his objective with Finland to representatives from the UK, in December 1941, and the US, in March 1943, as well as the Tehran Conference. He believed that in the end "Stalin's desire to crush Hitler quickly and decisively without distraction from the Finnish sideshow" concluded the war.[181]

Therefore, as I said before, the Soviets didn’t want all of Finland......but if they had the Finns couldn’t have stopped them.
