CNN Reassigns Reporter Who Called Israelis Cheer Bombs ‘Scum’ in Tweet [W:66, W:121]

What? That a few morons are sitting and cheering the bombing of civilians is suddenly "Israel hate" and makes me a nazi?????

These morons are no different than the morons who cheered when the twin towers were hit.

the world according to PeteEU folks....

People cheering bombings focusing on strategic military targets (and a missile launcher in a civilian area is still a military target) by a uniformed military as part of an announced and declared military offensive...

...is "no different" then people cheering using planes as bombs on a purely civilian target, using hijacked civilian equipment, by a non-uniformed terrorist force with little official declaration of such an attack occurring

no different folks.

The OP also includes comments she made on the air.

I don't think describing warfare as 'macabre' is a controversial statement. And it is quite funny the Fox News viewers are questioning this reporter's journalistic ethics.

Do you have evidence that PeteEU has applauded the killing of Westerners?

You can't deny that she expressed her own opinion.

The expression of an opinion was not the reason this thread was created.

If the reporter cheered for the Israelis on air I guarantee you the OP would not have been criticizing her.

Freedom of speech hasn't quite taken hold in many parts of the world...PC seems to be doing fine.

She has every right to " Tweet " whatever she wants.

Nothing is stopping her from retweeting her initial comment.

CNN has every right to remove her from a potentially dangerous situation.

Jeez, you folks are getting lazy

" Fox news viewers " ? Generalities lead to really dumb statements like her calling those Israeli cheering " scum".

Yeah, they probably removed her for her own safety.

Correct. I don't watch Fox News anymore than I watch CNN or that garbage on MSNBC. I get my news from a variety of sources... mostly over the internet.

Do you have evidence that PeteEU has applauded the killing of Westerners?

No, do you have evidence that Martians exist?

Since we're apparently asking for evidence the other person hasn't claimed.

I'm talking about Pete's statement about OTHER people applauding both attacks

A true journalist wouldn't have to walk back anything they say, because it would only be the facts and an unbiased account of the events they observe.

A true journalist? What's that? Are those extinct?

Errrrr, I think small possibly fossils were discovered on Martian soil, try Jupiter or something much more uninhabitable.

Being critical of Israeli policy does not imply bias against Israel... far far from it. I have been critical of the Palestinians and against Hamas/Hezbollah for years.. does that make me anti-Palestinian too?

Sorry, the only posts that I remember from you are ones where you are attacking either Israel or the United States. If you could link me to some of your anti-Palestinian posts I'd happily read them.

What she said doesn't bother me.

Good for her.

from the OP:

I see nothing unethical with the reporter's official report.

Once again, do you think the OP would have created the thread if the reporter was cheering the Israelis on air?

Generalities tend to be generally true.

My point is, why on Earth would you think he would approve of ANYONE cheering death?

I'm not a mind reader. Are you?

What collective term would you use for people who cheer the death of innocents?

I'm not a mind reader. Are you?

What, we can't speculate here? Threads like this one are laughable because one side will accuse the other of doing exactly what their side does all the time. Until I start seeing some conservatives critiquing Fox News for their lack of journalistic integrity I will continue to roll my eyes at such posts.

I got the impression that she called them "scum" because they threatened to destroy her car, which I can totally understand.

However, after having publicly called the IDF "scum" I wouldn't want her wandering around in a war zone with the IDF were I her employer. We're talking about 18 year old kids in some cases.

All in all it's best to be circumspect when one is in such a situation.

If you can find a mainstream American reporter who cheers IDF forces then send me that person's name because I want to send him or her a $20 Macanudo cigar.

My point is, why on Earth would you think he would approve of ANYONE cheering death?

I think it's reasonable to disapprove of anyone cheering death. I think it's unreasonable to treat any two instances of people cheering death as EXACTLY the same

I certainly don't deny that Fox is as bad as you say it is, but that doesn't excuse the actions of the other networks. If it's wrong for conservatives to criticize CNN, then it's wrong for liberals to criticize Fox. Do you agree?
