New York Magazine said:On Thursday night, CNN correspondent Diana Magnay did a report from a hill in southern Israel, where a group of Israelis had gathered to watch the beginning of the ground invasion of the Gaza Strip. As Magnay described the missiles flying through the sky behind her, the spectators could be heard cheering on the bombardment. "It is an astonishing, macabre and awful thing to watch this display of fire in the air," she told Wolf Blitzer before signing off.
Shortly afterwards, Magnay posted this tweet:
...
CNN's decision to remove Magnay from Gaza comes just after NBC — citing "security concerns" — pulled correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin from the area after his moving account of the deaths four Palestinian children in an Israeli air strike. While the circumstances surrounding Magnay and Mohyeldin's removals are slightly different, their situations have given people on both sides of the conflict more reason to feel that the media isn't being fair when it comes to reporting what's happening in Israel and Gaza.
Inappropriate at the very least on Magnay's case. The art of reading straight news instead of editorializing really is a lost art. There shouldn't be much wonder why the media is seen to be anti-Israel when these type occurrences seem to be more and more common.
I agree. She tried to walk it back, but the damage (to her) was done.

Telling the truth is now inappropriate? She is reporting the news... and it is disgusting and they are scum.

She has a right to her opinion, but not when that opinion reflects upon a supposed news organization. Gotta love the Israel hate though... the third reich lives on eh?

What? That a few morons are sitting and cheering the bombing of civilians is suddenly "Israel hate" and makes me a nazi?????
These morons are no different than the morons who cheered when the twin towers were hit.
You heard me.What?
Let's face it, this isn't the first time your views were vehemently anti Israel. That a few morons are sitting and cheering the bombing of civilians is suddenly "Israel hate" and makes me a nazi?????
Nice save now making it only "the few morons". Well done. These morons are no different than the morons who cheered when the twin towers were hit.

A true journalist wouldn't have to walk back anything they say, because it would only be the facts and an unbiased account of the events they observe.
This is nonsense. There is no such thing as a lack of bias. Even so, her account of the events that she observed, were to observe people who are scum. The average decent Israeli was not on that hill. They were at home watching tv, at a restaurant, at a movie with their kids, etc. Only right wing racist scum would go to that hill and behave as they did. So the only thing she could have done to show any bias would have been to not call them scum, because scum is exactly what those people are.
I stopped reading at "right wing racist scum."
..... Congratulations. Do you want to declare any of your other great feats of ignorance? That is what those people are. If you don't like reality, I can do nothing to remedy that.
Then you apparently do not read much. The media is anti-Israel? :lamo :lamo That is one of the stupidest things I have ever read!!
It's inappropriate as a news reporter in either case - are you ignoring what I posted to simply twist it to your view or did you honestly not read it?If a person called Hamas scum they would never have been reassigned!! When a reporter accurately calls war mongering, racist, right wing Israeli scum.... you know.... scum, they get reassigned!!
Citation please.Reporters get reassigned simply for seeing Palestinians getting killed!!
Then you apparently don't comprehend very well either... :shrug:That is enough to get you reassigned. If you think the media is anti-Israel, at least in the US, it is delusion beyond my ability to comprehend!!
Read the blue part of your signature, and then look in the mirror. No need to respond to this, because I won't any further.

I don't see anything wrong with editorializing in a tweet. CNN probably felt that that word was kind of obscene.
