CNN’s Jim Acosta doubles down on how safe border is before Trump fires back
https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/cnns-jim-acosta-doubles-down-on-how-safe-border-is-before-trump-fires-back
CNN chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta on Thursday reiterated how safe it is in McAllen, Texas, after he faced mockery on social media for inadvertently making the case for President Donald Trump’s border wall.
Eventually, Trump himself weighed in.

The brouhaha began when Acosta took to Twitter showing video of himself walking alongside a steel barrier and saying how the area was “pretty tranquil.”

Big thanks to the big dummy, Acosta for confirming that a wall works very well!

So the fence we have (yes, that was a fence) is already working. Guess we don't need a wall then.

Also, Acosta makes the point that if the area is "tranquil" (a premise you accept), then there is no "crisis."

Republicans have based their push for a wall lies for so long they have no idea how to keep their narrative straight.

Wow, FOX News is really desperate eh? Acosta pointed out that Trump is full of **** when it comes to his fear mongering about illegal immigrants.

But instead of reporting on reality, that Trump, Huckabee, and Nielsen, were deceitful in their 30,000/40,000 person claim, that in fact the number is 6, they make up a bunch of lies about Acosta.

With "reporting" like this, is it any wonder so much of Trump's base has nary a clue about actual border security?

If you watch the actual video, FOX News is making up a bunch of nonsense, I suppose to deflect from Trump, Huckabee, and Nielsen's deceit about the 30,000-40,000 supposedly caught at the southern border.

Since the 2,000 mile-long border is by no means homogenous, I would ask if the areas in which there are no barriers are similarly tranquil.

https://thehill.com/homenews/media/...ned-our-local-view-because-of-reports-on-wall

A San Diego television station on Thursday said that CNN had asked for a "local view" and then "declined to hear from us" after past reports from the station showed that a border wall was effective.

"We believe CNN declined a report from KUSI because we informed them that most Border Patrol Agents we have spoken to told us the barrier does in fact work," it concludes. "We have continuously been told by Border Patrol Agents that the barrier along the Southern border helps prevent illegal entries, drugs, and weapons from entering the United States, and the numbers prove it."

Apparently things are calm where there are barriers. Shocked.

That would be a different question. Fox News makes the claim that Acosta's particular example makes the case for a wall, when in fact it quite obviously does the opposite.

Do you have the actual numbers to say it’s deceit?

Realistically it could go both ways right?

In one view it could be said the wall is working. Which in my view that portion is.

Now move to a portion without that type of border and labeled a hot area by the BP and compare.

It’s well and good to say it’s not a crisis and then ignore every other area because one spit is doing what it should.

Acosta got owned because his presentation was BS. He deserves it as he doesn’t appear to have to many brain cells

What a colossal dumbass! He probably doesn't even realize that he just made a real time argument FOR a barrier. LOL!

Which areas without fencing supports that conclusion?

Notice how completely Republicans have lost the public debate on a "wall" and are now retreating to a "barrier," and are even resorting to places where existing fences work to make their case. They've admitted that a wall isn't necessary and don't even know it.

I notice!

No...There are provisions in the existing Secure Fence act that specifically what materials can be used to build barriers on our southern borders...My guess it was a preemptive poison provision in that law, put in there by democrats that want as much illegal immigration as possible to "fundamentally transform" this country, and replace American citizens.

fence, wall, barrier are synonymous with "the wall" and provide the same deterrent. Yesterday there was a thread with the steel slat wall, which is the same style Acosta visited.

Tell me how the dumbasses report works against building a barrier, when he is standing on the safe side of an existing barrier touting how "tranquil" it is....lol....You people are too much....:lamo

I really wish someone would give Trump his $6 billion or whatever it is for his wall/barrier/whatever we call it these days so he can shut up and we can get on to more important things. Watching his fan base tinkle in their panties every day because some skeery Honduran is going to steal their blueberry picking jobs is just annoying.

You guys have the lost debate so completely that you're all over the place with your terminology. You're just jumping from claim to claim as fast as you can in order to find something to hold on to. You have no idea what a "crisis" is, whether the existing barriers are working or not, what a final barrier is supposed to look like or be called, how much it's supposed to cost, who's going to pay for it...you guys haven't made up your minds about anything.

The Republican position on a Southern border is defined by incoherence, and you wonder why you're losing the public debate.

In an interview yesterday, a BP agent in charge of 'trans national apprehensions' told the reporter that just yesterday, individuals from some 133 different countries were apprehended, including Romania, Pakistan, India, Iraq, etc....But, I am positive that's ok right?

The plans of "the wall" being a concrete wall, 2,000 miles long have long since been changed...You know that...

Long since? I am only hearing about this concession for steel barriers in the past week. Perhaps you can share when a long time ago it changed?

Donald J. Trump

An all concrete Wall was NEVER ABANDONED, as has been reported by the media. Some areas will be all concrete but the experts at Border Patrol prefer a Wall that is see through (thereby making it possible to see what is happening on both sides). Makes sense to me!

Is 11 days really that "long"?
