(CNBC) Goldman stands by call that consumers will bear the brunt of tariffs after Trump blasts bank’s economist
--
“Eventually, by the fall, we estimate that consumers would bear about two thirds of the cost” from tariffs, he said.
--
It appears Trump has been trying to get Godlman Saks economist David Mericle fired, for daring to speak against him.

To Mericle's & Golfdman Saks' credit, they are no capitulating. They are predicting consumers will bear 2/3rds the cost of Trump's tariffs. Meanwhile, Trump brags about how rich the government has become fleecing our pockets.

Emperor Trumpatine needs to get over himself.

Is he actually trying to get him fired? It wouldn't be surprising, that's what commies do.

By Friday....Monday at the latest...Goldman Sachs is gonna get specifically targeted by a Trump EO or a DOJ "investigation".

You watch.
They should all be rotting in prison for their role in the financial crisis. I don’t care how they get there. If you believe anything Goldman Sachs has to say after that then you’re one of what they call their “muppets.”

What it going to take for Trump supporters to realize what he's doing? I bet over 2/3rds of them still think the manufacturing country's are paying the tariffs.

Yesterday I had a forum-member Trump supporter tell me (in the D.C. takeover thread), that having the military with fully-automatics weaponry standing on the street-corners of our cities was a comforting thing, and European cities "do it all the time"!

I didn't reply, because what can I say? I earlier present the Benjamin Franklin "Those that give-up Liberty for Safety . . . " quote.

I often can't reason with MAGA because our world views often have no common reference. Sacrificing freedom for military with fully automatic weapons watching-us? Celebrating government filing its coffers by taking money right out of our pockets?

How does one debate how wrong that is, with those that believe it so?

This isn't simply "They don't believe it.". Even if they "come to believe it", they will celebrate it! It's sick shyte!

Estimated cost to the average US Household of Trumps Tariffs.

$2400 annually...

If a President pushed for a tax increase of that much on Americans.

Republicans would attempt to overthrow the government.

And yet Trumpists are so ****ing retarded, they think they're not the ones paying...

Lawsuit.

The fed govt's unlimited funds, provided by us taxpayers, are a deep well that few organizations can outlast for long-drawn out lawsuits.

It's an abuse of power with our $$.

Whomever comes up with the deficit numbers better keep their resume up to date, also!

The closer we get to Christmas, the tighter the tourniquet will get.

Yes, Trump is trying to get the economist fired.

From the OP article:

Trump lashed out at the bank in a Tuesday post on Truth Social, suggesting that CEO David Solomon “get a new Economist” or consider resigning.

Death is the only thing that will change them.
Just look at the ridiculous posters here the more you show them the deeper they dig in.

From the OP article:
Well commies like to control information, and Trump is a thin-skinned snowflake (like all good commies) and cannot handle dissent. So it's not surprising that he wants anyone reporting anything counter to his "greatness" to be fired or punished. Freedom of speech and freedom of press are not concerns for MAGA commies.

I've thought about this for a little bit today: When I see OUR military, I don't have the same type of feeling that I would if it were some other country. I do think I'd feel relatively safe with them around. With that said:

Is it something I want? No, not really. If the DC police are having a rash of increased criminal activity, the first step is increased police presence, and harsher punishments for those convicted, not military parade.

As to Goldman, which billionaire who fleeces you do you want to believe? You really are damned if you do or don't in most cases.

Trump Thinks He Is the C.E.O. of Everything. Awesome.

by Bill Saporito, a business journalist and a former editor at Fortune.

Our president has compelled the companies involved in a major steel acquisition to reportedly give the U.S. government the authority to name a member on the board of the combined company. He hinted that Goldman Sachs should fire its chief economist, apparently for having the temerity to predict that the president’s tariffs would eventually fuel inflation, a prediction seconded by many economists in America (who are not working for Mr. Trump). He’s even found time to demand that Coca-Cola produce its signature soda with cane sugar instead of the high-fructose corn syrup the company has used for decades.

Police yes, military, no. Although I do imagine that for some folks they cannot distinguish between the two.

The operative word is "if." DC doesn't have a rash of increased criminal activity. In fact, it's been dropping from the peak in the 1990s.

I have little doubt. And, I'm not being facetious.

The pace of American's leaving the country is greatly accelerating. Just recently it was found 4 out of 10 Americans are "considering leaving". This is particularly true of transgenders and young people.

In addition, I have many Canadian relatives. They used to visit often. Rarely more than a year or two would pass without one or another popping by. I even have a spare bedroom specifically for visitors (though not only for Canadians). The Canuck extended family members are furious with Americans, and refuse to come-over.

They're not upset with me or the American side of our family, obviously. But they are totally disgusted & sickened with Trump & his MAGA voters. They no longer trust us, and want nothing to do with us, including having no desire visit our country.

In addition, a contact I have in the airline industry claims incoming international flight logs show a decreasing number of incoming pax. So it's not just Canadians that are staying away.

It's all very sad.

Call it what it is. An import tax.

It's a brand new tax being paid by consumers.

The right wing propaganda machine can call it anything they like - people know when their money doesn't go as far as it used to. The higher prices get, the more people will react badly to it and turn on maga. Nobody asked for new taxes on imports. It wasn't campaigned on. It was a bait and switch.

I disagree. If Trump suggest as much, MAGA will celebrate it. Just as they now celebrate J6-ers & Ghislaine Maxwell.

We're seeing Core Inflation inching-up month after month.. And that's with severe TACO-ing. Now with some tariffs finally being applied last week, I don't see how we can avoid further rising inflation. Apparently, neither does Goldman Saks.
