Clinton vs Edwards vs Obama

OK all three have their claim to fame that they are lawyers. So it is a fair place to start comparing them.

Can any Dems or supporters or any of the subjects list the biggest legal case(s) each won and how they used their training as a lawyer and their intelligence to do so?
 
What the hell does that have to do with running the country? Obama's done nothing, Edwards is second string and the whole country want Clinton back in the White House. American's accross this country look at what Bush as done to this country's reputation and then they think about the years of Camelot we had with Clinton and we long for those good times again.

The latter comment is presumptuous at best. Most American's liked Bill, and are skeptical of Hillary. The woman wants a flag burning amendment for god's sake...

I doubt Hillary is capable of calming the middle east. Thats a problem thats going to take generations. You're putting way too much stock in her name.
 
Geez the three leading Democrat candidates and not one Dem/Lib can list the greatest thing they ever did in their chosen field of study.

Doesn't say much for any of them.
 
Its because the premise of your post is flawed.
What you fail to understand is that there are a large percentage of people who attend law school who have no intention on practicing law as a lawyer.
I went to Law School with a Doctor, who never wanted to be a lawyer, but wanted the academic experience. Four of my good friends from Law School wanted to teach and never practiced law for a single minute. A lot of people, Obama, for instance went to law school to practice politics. Obama as law review editor could have gone to any law firm in the Country and made major bucks...but his interest was in politics not law. Same with Edwards. Edwards clearly had politics on his agenda.....
The point is....most people who go to law school and later become politicians probably didn't go to law school to be a litigator.

And the bottom line: what does any of that have to do with their qualifications to be President?

I am still waiting for your answer to what qualifications are required to be President....Stinger.....you've been avoiding that one for weeks now.
 
I don't understand the love for everything Clinton, or in reality the double standard people have.

If you have a problem with the Patriot Act, then you must have had problems with Project Echelon.

If you have a problem with no bid contacts to Haliburton, then you must have had a problem when they were given a no bid contract in the Balkans.

If you have a problem with the US acting militarily on the basis that we would find WMDS, then you must have had a problem with the US going into to remove Milosevic on the basis we would find mass graves...

Ultimately I don't agree with the assertion that America want's back CLINTON.
 

I'm not sure America wants Hillary, but I believe if Bill ran again, he'd crush anyone the Republicans put up.

Two, Clinton and Edwards were practicing attorneys. It is the profession they we trained in and chose to engage in. Are you trying to say you can't find any great accomplishments Hillary had as an attorney working for the most prestigious law firm in the state of Arkansas?

Without any great accomplishments in his resume, and if fact opposition to the things that did make the 90's what they were, I doubt it. Of course the MSM will misrepresent that and fool a lot of people. But bottom line, I think most people had enough of his antics then and wouldn't want to repeat them nor would the Democrat leadership want to put themselves on the line for him again.
 

I disagree with your contention about lack of great accomplishments. And the dude was scoring 70% approval in the polls on his way out despite that. Bush barely won his two elections against candidates that were nowhere near Clinton's caliber. But it's speculation.

No, I was thinking more in terms of his great accomplishments as inheriting an out of control $340 billion budget deficit from his Republican predecessor and instituting policies of revenue expansion and spending constraints that eliminated the deficits and creating a surplus which he bequeathed to his successor (who promptly thru us back in record deficits). I was thinking of the fiscal responsibility of his stewardship that passed worker friendly laws (minimum wage increase, Family Medical leave act) yet still managed not to interfere with an economy that had the best period of growth since the 60s and the longest postwar period of expansion yet. Those are the main things I think of in terms of his accomplishments, which was why I disagreed with you.

But if Clinton's 70% approval was a "joke", what a sad commentary that is on our current president.

So I see you missed the entire point. The point is....people go to law school for a lot of reasons that don't include being a litigator. A law school education opens up a lot of doors that don't include practicing law....I cited a number....teaching, politics..etc.

I tried repeatedly to get you to state what you believed the qualifications to be president are and you weaseled out of every attempt to get you to answer. You yourself said several times that you weren't going to answer the question.
So prove to everyone following this thread that you aren't just another right-wing Dodger when it comes to answering a question.....or will you do what every other one does....avoid and dodge again.....we are waiting to see if you can follow through....Can you?

No I got your point and it's a dodge. Both Edwards and Clinton were PRACTICING ATTORNEY's the DID engage in the practice of law. for years. Obama I don't know you may just be stuck not being able to list any accomplishments for him but both Clinton and Edwards spend years as practicing attorneys. Clinton at one the most highly prestegeous law firms in the South.

So stop dodging and try again.

Go back to the thread I listed some of mine, while at the same time telling you that YOU decide what qualifications and experience attach you to a candidate and you refused to list any of yours nor say what Obama brings to the table. Executive experience, leadership skills demonstrated by accomplishments, working with opponents (political or business or whatever) to bring about success, things like that.

It is growing very apparent that you guys, who support these Dems, are unable to clearly state what makes them viable attractive candidates based on their experience and accomplishments.

I'm a Republican and I agree with you 100% that if Bill Clinton ran today, he'd win in a landslide... I'm not sure that any Republican that could give him a tough race...

I don't think any Democrat could get within 15-20 points of him...

As a Democrat, what do you think of Biden? I actually kinda like him. He seems intelligent, well-spoken and well-informed....

What does ANY democrat think of Biden?
 
Biden would be my first choice. The guy is extremely intelligent, he has been around for a long time and is knowledgable about the workings of the political system. The problem with Biden is that he does not have the "star quality" that is required to propel yourself to the front of the race. Biden will be lost among the other candidates. Its too bad though...because I think he would make a great President.

They were clearly listed in the thread where we first discussed and I just repeated some of them here.

Clearly you can't make the case for any of them to be elected President. Even the simple question about comparing them in their chosen professions falsely stating that they didn't practice law.

In my limited knowledge of and experience regarding Biden, I agree with your assessment.
 


Biden is another democrat retread....He ran for president in 1988.....He has never seen a TV camera he did not like..........

I'm pretty sure that I DIDN'T endorse him... I was curious what people thought about Biden from THAT side of the aisle. And, whenever he is on Meet the Press, I always like to hear what he has to say... that open-mindedness thing, you know...

However, I vote for the BEST candidate, not who has the letter (R) next to their name. I can't imagine anybody being a worse presidential nominee than Hillary RODHAM-Clinton or Obama, however.
