Clinton suggests Trump wants to become a dictator

Hillary Clinton upped the ante Friday night in what has become a sustained back-and-forth with Donald Trump, suggesting that the presumptive Republican nominee wants to be a dictator. "We are trying to elect a president," Clinton said during a long riff on Trump, "not a dictator."

Clinton made the comment at an event here after she blasted Trump for suggesting this week that Gonzalo Curiel, a federal district judge in the Southern District of California who is presiding over a lawsuit involving Trump University, has a "conflict of interest" with the businessman because of Curiel's Mexican heritage. Clinton said Trump is attacking the judge so people don't "look down here at all the scum that came out of Trump University," a for-profit school Trump put his name on that is now being accused of framing consumers……………

Now this may not be too far from being true.

Have you noticed………let’s say to be fair………almost all of the promises Donald has made to his supporters he will do if elected President……… a president does not have the constitutional power to fulfill these “promises”…….

Which begs the question………..

Is Donald once again telling a lie?

Or does he have plans to dismiss Congress and the SCOTUS so he can ‘keep his promises” just as so many dictators thru out history have done……..?

This is literally the kind of language often used in the oratory at the time of the Gracchus brothers or the period around the time of J Caesar's death. It is the frantic language of revolution and loss of legitimacy.

He's as much a statist as any liberal.

A. Is Donald once again telling a lie?

B. Or does he have plans to dismiss Congress and the SCOTUS so he can ‘keep his promises” just as so many dictators thru out history have done……..?

I'm going with option A.

Has he promised to close Guantanamo?

People running for President make promises, with little thought to how they are going to keep them. Realizing that a candidate's promises might be hard for them to keep is not good evidence that they plan to overturn the Constitution when they take office.

I'm certainly no Trump supporter, but this "criticism" can be made of any candidate.

He is simply campaigning for office.

Most successful Presidential candidates have made campaign promises they failed to keep, either because they were unable to once in office, or had no real intention of ever doing.

So what else is new? :coffeepap:

The racism, the xenophobia, the misogyny, the bullying, the lying, speaking in two word grunts, the thin skin, the small hands, the birther, the nativism, the promise to ban folks belonging to a religion, etc. etc.

Well maybe not so new...

Sounds like Obama's campaign, and time spent in the oval office.

Oh, stop it. Just how desperate are these people? You? And as for the President not having the power to do something? And promising anyway? Can you say Obama? Executive orders? These desperate people need to clean their own damned house.

The racism, the xenophobia, the misogyny, the bullying, the lying, speaking in two word grunts, the thin skin, the small hands, etc. etc.

Ah! You refer to all the character assassination word associations and the personal insults being applied to the gentleman.

THOSE terms you listed are true incitements.

Terms being thrown about to cause a gut reaction rather than to allow a rational examination of the issue. Don't listen to what he says, he hates women, minorities, foreigners, etc. etc. etc. because he's a [INSERT Derogatory Term Here].

I don't see him as a racist, misogynist, blah, blah, yadda, yadda. I am not moved by labels.

I choose to make a decision about someone or something from a personal examination of the WHOLE, not snippets taken out of context and used to color one's viewpoint.

I'll vote my conscience knowing I have made an informed decision rather than an emotional one. :coffeepap:

Therte is nothing unconstitutional about E.O.s no mater what has been peddled by RWQ extremists..........

BTW

The subject is not President Obama so what you speak to is superfluous

But never did they say/infer/assert they had the power as President to do.

Sorry pal...I'm not going to go through campaign after campaign to point out all the times various successful candidates have said exactly that sort of thing.

Why don't you do some personal research before you make such an unfounded and patently false statement.

The constitutionality of Exec Orders has not been tested. Exec orders are NOT meant to create law or circumvent it.

Every president says things they have no power to do. They are talking about working with within the rules of our nation to get things done. Unless you are Obama, then you just do it anyways.

But Maggie, don't you know that they see their 'houses' as pristine and not in need of cleaning? Never mind that you've hit the nail on the head.

B/S!

Hitler was open. Had the people who opposed him been more vocal and active POLITICALLY, as opposed to the open violence in the streets which actually helped him get elected in the first place, he would have been at best a footnote in history rather than the boogie man people use to disparage others like you did today.

Also a STRAWMAN. Trump, despite your continued attempts to incite emotional rather than rational response via character assassination, is not a "Hitler." :screwy

Try again.
